- THE UNIVERSAL CAR
INTERESTING FACTS
106,327 Ford Cars and Trucks
Retailed in November
approximately the same aumjer sched-
uled for delivery this month
What Does This Mean?
iiis volum? of deliveries to actual owners is unpre-
i dented for this time of the year—
ha? tax?i the manufacturing capacity of the
>rd plants working at full capacity—
indicates a volum3 of business during the rapidly
iproaching months of "heavy demand" which will
far beyond the maximum production schedule
fiich the Ford Motor Company has set— 1
id that means a Ford shortage even more acute
Ian the one which existed last Spring and Summer.
*
salers stocks all over the country are lo w—there
no reserves to draw upon to meet the demands
delivery--
re is no way in which dealer reserves can be
it up, as deliveries have been made to customers
fast as Cars could be manufactured since last
iril.
\e only way you can protect your desire to obtain
'mpt delivery of a Ford even at this time is to
ice your order immediately.
This emphasizes more strongly than anything
we could possibly say the necessity of your
making prompt arrangements with a Ford
Dealer the listing of your order, particularly
if you are contemplating the purchase of a
Ford Car or Truck for use this Spring or
I Summer.

MAKE HOBBY OF GRIEVANCE
Probably Many of Us Know Paraena
Who ClOMly Hssambl* This
Ssnsitivs Cousin Loey.
Cousin Lucy aeldom goes nny pln<*«
that she di esn't get her ftwlings hurt.
Fii fact, she spends (ho greater portion
of her time nursing a grievance of
wane sort or other. At tha lust f%m-
lly dinner, which lies been s custom
of the family for several generations,
she had the following to say over the
telephone to someone who bus man-
aged to keep from offending tier for
■event) weeks.
"Well, you enn nny I urn too sensl-

voleo tluit carried nil the feeling of
un enrly Christian inurtyr, "hut I
guess you w.ouid he, t«K>, If someone
made n remark to you like Aunt
Kophls did to me ahout the I'rcu'dent
when slie knew my hiiMimnd worked
for hl« election iih hard hm nnyhody
wound here. It was Just another way
of Insinuating that John's Judgment
wan poor, and I'm sure It's a* good
an I'liete guuiuel's. Of course Aunt
Sophia says sl:e never meant a thing
by It and that I know she always has
been a Democrat, but then, If she
didn't un hi anything, why say It to
me of all persons when she might
have known I would resent It?
"John never pays any attention to
things like that and says I'm foolish
to do It, l.ut I toll him I don't like to
have my day spoiled by having some-
one picking at me, and I'm not one of
these two-faced people who will get
mad about something and never say a
word about It. 1 don't mind being
slighted, as I frequently am, and often
suggest staying away from the family
dinners since I seem not to be badly
wanted, but mother always went and
so I'll continue going unless I am told
to slay away. But I notice a lot of
things people may not think I do. It's
got so when I move my chair over to
where some of the others are talking,
they don't seem neurly so lively and
kind of quit talking. Ho, of course, I
can't help believing they were talking
about me, can I? Or else they don't
want me to hear what Is being said.
Then, maybe, I Imagine It, but It
seems to me they all look relieved
when we leave early. Not that I care,
but I enn't think of a thing I have
ever done to make people dislike me
or want to get rid of me. Well, all
right. liHt It seems queer to me that
someone always comes to your door
when I call you up."
And Cousin Lucy slams up the re-
ceiver with a new grievance to nurse.

WHO INVENTED MONEY?
Not Bad.
There Is a brilliant young Britisher
In Washington, the correspondent of
a famous British Journal, who has not
been able to realize that the United
States has really voted Itself dry. This
has become somew-hat of an obsession
on his pnrt, and many Incidents of
everyday life afford him opportunity
for witty sullies In this relation. Re-
cently he attended a muslcale, and
after nn artist h d rendered "Drink to
Me Only With Thine Eyes," the Briton
was asked by some one who was the
composer, "Really, for the moment
I hnve forgotten," he replied, "but one
might ssy that, whoever be the com-
poser, It 1* opus 18."
That Kind of Art.
An unusually caustic critic was be-
ing shown through one of the Paris
art salons by an enthusiastic friend.
They stopped before some of the most
modern of modern art
It was the handiwork of a woman,
and might hat® been a life-like por-
trait 01' anything from a sand storm
to a steam roller.
"She seems wedded to her art," the
enthusiast declared, enrt .>tured.
"Yes, and every picture she has
painted la sufficient reason for a di-
vorce," waa the reply.
Our Apple Crop.

Great Britain's power stations la that

From the Cauri shell to the
first ancient coin is a long cry.
Yet during all the intervening
centuries men used some sort
of money facilitate barter.
But there waa no system about
it and forgeries inust have
been frequent, until Athelstan,
the Greek, devisedthe lirst
regulations for the operation of
928.
It wasn't always precious
meial that was used in the
making of money, nor was a
gold reserve considered a ne-
cessity. Charles II, in 1684,
coined money from tin, James
II, used pewter and gun metal.
Paper did not come in*.o use
until governments found it ne-
cessary, for the take of their
credit,to l ack up their mint is-
sues with real value in their
vaults.—Ex.

Arctic Possibilities.
Donnld 11. MncMlllnn bus returned
from his year's exploration of Baffin
hay in the Houdoln with the news that
the western coust of Baffin land has
been Incorrectly mapped and Its
wnterH\mWj-udlngly charted. There
are miiny .'A will say, "Interesting,
but whut of.lt t"
But there Is this ahout MacMlllso's
discovery. It la not at all Impossible
that H will have a very real and
practical value. The economic poten-
tialities of the Arctic we know very
little about. Explorers have, as a rule,
been little concerned with the econom-
ic features of the northern wastes,
but there may come n day wnen the
world will he much comemed about
them. Oil has been found fur north,
and some day there may be oil wells
In Baffin land. The charting of the
waters of Baffin bay will then assume
a new Importance.—New York Herald.
