Art is involved wherever individuals live creative-
ly adding depth and richness to their lives.
Therefore, each student deserves the right to par-
ticipate in meaningful art expressions in which he de-
velops an intellectual and -motional understanding of
art; in which special emphasis is given to his individ-
ual areas, inspirations and imagination; and in which
he develops his productive abilities in many two and
three dimensional media.
During the month of March, the Texas Art Educa-tion Association is emphasizing art in our public
schools.
THEREFORE, I, as Governor of Texas, do hereby
designate the month of March, 1970, as
YOUTH ART MONTH
in Texas.
In official recognition whereof, I hereby affix my
signature this 17th day of February, 1970.
PRESTON SMITH
Governor of Texas
