Lord Dundreary was given ut this temple
of tho (llama on Wednesday evening to a
much better audience than that which oc
cupied the auditorium on the initial night
oftho appearance of the Irwin troupe. The
wca her hud something to do Willi the better
occupancy of tho hull to bo sure but there
were two other reasons that had more to do
with It and these were tho brilliant ai tinij
which slgnuIUed Hie opening night nnd the
fiiut that Hothem's exhilarating picture of
Lord Dundreary was to be drawn by a pro-
fessional who If ho did not equal the Kn-
glish player In the plenitude of his gur-
lands at least shone almost impercep-
tibly less In tho Illumination of his
talents. Mr. Kuluforth VLord Dundreary
then In ull its measuromentN was a most
natural a most exact a most lucid portrait.
The Aurora of a pure dramatic gexius hal
lowed U tlie conscientiousness of a devotee
continued It a triumph. The "Asa Tren-
hard" of Mr. Bclilcn Irwin was not on a par
allel In uuiillly throughout with his rendl-
tiouof the night before but most excellent
us Hint impersonation was thcro were purls
iu bis "Asa Trenchard" that were stronger
colored and which would impress a critical
spectator more comfortably. Mrs. Irwin
gave to her purt the iiroiuu of a pretty mem-
ory and was all vivacity nnd flowery grace.
Tlie "Ucorgluna" ot Miss Llbby wusuu even
an easy and a satisfactory Impersonation
and increased the efficiency of a fair support
materially.

The rrr?fVgef Piano "tho lovllest village
of the plain" sometimes styled by those who
udore it most was the theater of a nice little
nttair of this kind on Monday lust: It had a
man most places havo a man but It t'alnt
every place that has a man like this man.
And this mail wanted a horse. The neeea-
slty of having a horse struck hlmwhllohe
was striking Vood with an uxnnd know-
ing Just where he could get a horse ho
slopoed striking wood and struck for the
horse. It happened to be at Dr. Butler's
stable and moreover happened to be Dr.
ilutler's horse. Placing a blanket nn this
horse llkewlseu bridle he tethered the horso
to the fence and thought as the doctor's fam-
ily was uot nt home that It would be pleasant
to aco wbnt the doctor's house contained. So
he went In. He saw an overcoat. He count
ed on his tinners how many months
It would be before spring: "February one
M stop! March Is a spring month; why
its oaly one month 'till spring; tbe doctor
can stand It one month 1" Ho he put himself
on the Inside of that overcoat and Just as he
hud buttoned the lust button his eye fell up
on a gold ring. He laughed all the way down
to his toes ! He hud wauled a ring for the
last ten years ! He moved forward plowed
his little finger clear In to Hint ring and then
thinking he heard a noise he boarded his
horse and went south. On the way south he
stayed all ulght. Jn the morning he reached
Dallas and aftcrenjnylng the flavor of Freed-
mantown for a few hours where he sought
to dispose of his plunder he started west.
Monday Dr. Duller dashed Into town after
him and here lost bis trail; and we are
sorry for the Doctor Is an elegant gentleman
and one of the best citizens of our county as
In loslpg the man's trail he Is also likely to
lose bis horse his overcoat and that ring.
