ple have not money euough together

dwelllugs as well as tho fact that stores
are open all days of the week and that
markets are neiu in an pans or tno city
all the year round iu the open air

to make this living from hand to
mouth a ireneral and to a great extent
a Justifiable custom. You may imagine
that where forty or more families oc-
cupy one house live stories high that
the basement divided into forty cellars
will not irlvo a very larue space for the
storing of wood coal and provisions
for a tunilly . And wlien you take into
consideration the fact that tho propri-
etor of. cellar No. 40 may occupy
dwelling No. 40 on the fifth floor' you
will easily understand nial it is very
little more labor to go to the market thau
to co down lu the cellar; there will he a
little longer walk on lovyl ground but
there will bo one pair of stairs less to
ascend and descend and It Is no small
taste to pack basket of fuel ou olio's
