of the country will soon all be gather-
ed. Have had the finest weather for
gathering the cotton crop for a numb' r
of years. The smallpox scare Is keen-
ing the people very cloae.

have returned from Oklahoma. They
report having a pleasant visit, say the
country Is almost a paradise and thai
the fountain of youth can be found in

Tho Baptist Aid Society of the
Second Ward met Monday after-

for the next year was planned
and a collection was taken to se-
cure the pro-rata for the Home
Mission fund. Tho full amount
was secured and some extra dona-

opening meeting of the season
with Mrs S II Abbott. Mrs Love-
joy the retiring president occu-
pied the chair ami conducted the
election of officers for the year
which resulted in Mrs W II Suns
president; Mrs J C Krwin Secre-
tary and Mrs S II Abbott treas-
urer. The first meeting held un-
der its new regime was with Mrs
Arthur Anderson on Monday af-
ternoon from 2 to 5 o'clock. A
goodly number answered zealous-
ly to roll call with a free will of-
fering of $1.00, swelling tht
treasury to thirteen dollars a* a
neuHus for our coming year's

"shoulders to the wheel" and
move on to greater undertakings
and not drop behind on our rec-
