JEWISH DEPUTIES OBJECT TO
POLISH SUNDAY CLOSING.
Warsaw: (By I. J. P. B.) Deputies
Greenbaum and Farbsteln have come
out strongly before the Polish Parlia-
ment against the compulsory Sunday
dosing laws which will force Jews to
keep their shops closed and do no bus-
iness on Sunday.
Deputy Greenbaum declared that
the enforcement of the law would An-
ally result In Poland not getting con-
trol over Minsk Vilna and Eastern
Galicia. This statement aroused the
wrath of the Polish anti-Semites and
many of the papers retaliated with at-
tacks upon Greenbaum and the Jews
generally. These papers are now ad.
vising the Jews to leave the country.
The Sunday closing laws were char-
acterized by Deputy Farbstein as the
worst. thing anti-Semites had ever
done against the Jews since it meant
either that the Jews must lose out in
. their business or they must sell their
souls.

The "Yiddishe Zeitung" of Vilna re-
ports that Poligh soldiers broke down
the fence and the tombstone at the
grave of the "Vilna Gaon" and also
desecrated many of the other graves
in the Vilna Jewish cemetery among
them that of Rabbi Samuel Landau.
JEWISH RELIEF WORKER AR-
RESTED AS BOLSHEVIST.
Warsaw: (By I. J. P. B.) Mr. Taus-
ner a prominent Zionist of this city
was recently arrested in Pinsk where
he was superintending the distribution
of American relief monies. The Poles
charged that Tausner was carrying on
Bolshevik propaganda and gave as ev-
idence the fact that. he carried large
amounts of American money on his
person.
A number of Jewish Parliament dep-
uties prevented Tausner's being
brought before a court martial. They
succeeded in proving the accused man
innocent of the charges brought
against him and he was finally freed.

Rabbi Chyus and also by Mme. Anita
Miller who has been working indefa-

ing the war and since its close.
BUKOWINIAN JEWISH NATIONAL
COUNCIL TO BE DISSOLVED.

ing that the Jews of Bukowina no lon-
ger need a National Council since they
are now represented in the Parliament

known Jewish publisher B. Kletzkin
of Vilna has been arrested ' on the
charge that he is connected with the
right wing of the Bund and he is now
confined in the Lukisher prison.
POLES LEVY CONTRIBUTION ON
JEWISH COMMUNITY.

ishment for the Jewish Community of
Podeheizer which according to the
story of an informer had rejected at
the decision of the Paris Conference
limiting Poland to only a temporary
jurisdiction over Eastern Galicia the
Polish authorities levied a contribu-
tion of 200000 kronen from the com-
munity and also took as hostage sev-
eral Jews among them the Rabbi Dr.
Lilienfeld.
GERMAN JEWS FLEEING FROM
POSEN.
Warsaw: (By I. J. P. B.) Since the
Germans have evacuated Posen' over
a thousand Jewish families have also
left the city for various parts of Ger-
many but their places have been taken
by other Polish and Russian Jews so
that the population of the Jewish sec-
tions has not materially changed..
