the University of Texas:
has recently come to the atten-
ion of the University of Texas Me
norah Society consisting of the Jew
ish students of the University that
a booklet entitled The International
Jew" or The World'a Foremost
Problem' was distributed among
the members of the faculty. That
booklet is a reprint of a series of
articles appearing in The Dearborn
Independent' published by Henry
Ford of automobile fame. Since
they deal with the Jews the under
signed members of the Menorah So-
ciety and speaking In its behalf
wish to bring to your attention the
following facts:
These articles are plainly of tu
anti-Semitic character aiming t-
atimulaU artificially a wide-spread
anti-Jewish propaganda. They are
but an echo of a concerted move-
ment conducted with great viru-
lence in the Old World in Great
Britain Germany Austria and
France. Now it Is brought ovei
even to our own country with the
manifest purpose to fasten upon the
Jews as a people the odium of hav
ing brought about the World War
and with being the mainspring of
all the evils that accompanied and
followed it They are held respon-
sible for Bolshevism and for all the
ills and woes now afflicting the
world.
To the student of history this is
no new phenomenon. Sad as it is it
is but an old story familiar trick.
The Jew was ever used as the scape-
goat by the nations and peoples of
the earth in all times and climes.
Being a minority and frequentl:
misunderstood he was believed (as
unscrupulous leaders made him ap-
pear) to be the author of all the ills
of life real and imaginary. And it
is saddest of all that the slimy ser-
pent from across the sea should be
allowed to raise its ugly head even
in our own land the land of the
free.
But the articles of the Ford pub-
lication base their arguments on a
so-called "document" entitled The
Protocols of the Wise Men of Zl-
onM which has been proved to be a
forgery. Some reputable publishing
houses even refused to publish it
It has been established on unim-
peachable evidence that the "Proto-
cols'' originated in Russia in 1905 by
one Nilus whose very identity ii a
matter of mystery. Authorities on
Russian history snd Lterature have
show that these same "Proctocols'
are mere fabrications .nvented foi
the purpose of counter -revolutl mary
propaganda in Russia in 1905. An
on the basis of this diwrdited doc-
ument'' embelished w'h an intro-
duction and epilogue replete with
mis-statements half truths and quo-
tations bearing entirely false ap
pearances due to their isolation frorl
their contexts Ford is making pnp
agenda by means of a series of
anonymous articles Intended U
poison the minds of the American
people against the Jewish popula-
tion of the United States Ford the
erstwhile peacemaker is now busy
arousing animosity between one sev
tion of the population and another.
