Our Links Chain of Friendship has been weakened by the recent passing
of two of our charter members, Myrtle Manigault Stratton and Dorothy
Bell Wright, whose vision and dedication made possible our beginning.
The development of The Links, Inc. was achieved through the service and
dedication of members such as Helen Gray Edmonds and JoAhn Brown-
Nash. We wish to acknowledge our linkages with the past through the
many contributions of our sister Links who are no longer with us. They
are missed and will always be an important part of our legacy.
The Rose Beyond The Wall
Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God's free light,
Watered and fed by morning dew,
Shedding its sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall
Through which there shone a beam of light.
Dr. Helen Gray Edmonds Onward it crept with added strength,
5th National President With never a thought of fear or pride;
1970-1974
It followed the light through the crevice's length
And unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view,
Were found the same as they were before;
And it lost itself in beauties new,
Breathing its fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve
And make our courage faint and fall?
Nay! let us faith and hope receive;
The rose still grows beyond the wall.
Dr. JoAhn Brown-Nash Scattering fragrance far and wide
National Vice-President Just as it did in days of yore,
1994-1995
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forevermore.
