MR. and MRS. J. JAMES
INTRODUCINt
J
Mr. Charles Erwin Arnold
associate
Internationally Known
"PAINTER OF THE LENS"
^Compared with E. Drummond Young,
noted Scots' photographer, in a recent
issue of "Studio Light," Mr. Arnold is
unexcelled in his portrait work in the
use of panchromatic plates and films.
This artist's chief claim to distinction
in portraiture is in his influence of
color and the larger use of color-sensi-
tive plates and films in the studio.
^The Dallas News says of Arnold's work:
"This Dallas devotee of the camera has
found the stuff of art everywhere. The
subject matter of these photographs is
universal- men, buildings, landscapes,
skies, anything that has or assumes
form. It is in his canny sense of the sig-
nificant form that manifests its art-
istry.
,g/in his photographs the texture, the
physical quality of these things is ren-
dered with the utmost exactness—there
is that ever-present feeling for things
in themselves." In one of his exhibits in
Wemberley, England, the English
papers say of his work, "Here is a mas-
ter of his art, an art which will some
day be as fashionable to collect as etch-
ings are today."
