Somewhat of a political sensation
was produped In Texas Tuesday by the
publication In the Dallas News on the
first page in conspicuous typo of a
letter purporting to havo been written
by Senator J. W. Bailey to S. I. Rus-
sell of Plainvlew Texas in which the
senator is represented as saying that
"should the progress of the? compalgn
develop such conditions as would "en-
danger the election of Judge Poindex-
ter to such on extent as to make his
defeat morally certain I would feel It
my duty and the duty of .my friends
in Texas to give undivided support to
Mr. Colquitt."
The Record yesterday published the.
Russell letter with telegrams from.
Senator Bailey to.W. H. Dougherty of
Gainesville and J. M. Terrell Of Dallas
saying that he had written no letter
iu favor of Colquitt againBt Polndexter.
Tnese telegrams the News of yesterday
also published togethor with a facsl.

Tho dato of May 17 to which Judgo

But ihff most striking feature fo tho

tivd fac. slmilo signatures of Sen-

casual examination "will show a marked
difference. Senator Balleys "J" and
