as Happy Jack the tramp comes to
the Colonial lneaire.
The explosion of a real automobile
in full view of the audience Is Just
one of the features which make "The
Girl and the Tramp such an interest-
ing and enjoyable performance. Do
not Incur the idea that this play Is
a cheap melodrama or Wild West
shooting affair for It tells the story
of how a banker who has a loving wile
and a happy home is brought to ruin
through the manipulation of the stock
market by a man who is In love with
his wife. The wife and husband sep-
arate and she Is forced to move to
cheaper quarters. A wagon is waiting
to move Mrs. Merton's household
goods Into the street because she can t
pay ner rent wuhm nu ........ -Mrs
Merton defended and afterwards
adopted rushes In with monev to pay
the rent. It is an intense dramatic
scene and you feel just like kissing
the little Etret urchin for her timely
assistance.
The comedy is supplied by Happ
Jack the tramp who. when hungry
was fed by Mrs. Merton. She per-
suades him to stop drinking and be a
better man. He promises to do so
and throush the clever schemes of the
Klrl and the tramp the husband and
wife are reunited and the happy home
Is reinstated. Extra vaudeville be-
tween the acts.
