date, if we judge by Spanish history,
the beginning of his downlall may
be dated.
SPECIAL LOCALS.
A Blockade that Should bo Raised
The egiess from the system of waste
material through the natural channels
should be rendered free, without loss of
time, when a blockade is produced by an
attack of constipation, a disorder which,
if it becomes chronic, is productive of se-
nious bodily mischief. Jaundice, severe
headaches, nausea, dyspepsia, the usual
concomitants of the malady mentioned,
all indicate that the bodily functions are
materially interfered with. Hostetter's
Hitters is particularly efficacious in cases
of this sort, and renders the habit of
bodv perfectly regular. It is a medicine
gieatlv to be preferred to drastic cathar-
tics, which are well calculated to drench,
but unhappily also to weaken the intes-
tines. We say unhappily, since such
medicines are the favorite resource of
many ill advised persons, who resort to
them upon the most trivial occasion, and
greatly to their discomfort and injury.

It would have been humiliating
indeed, if, after all the undeserved
political abus« from radical quarters,
heaped upon it, Yazoo City had
gone republican.
Ben Butler reminds orle of a
plucky, but poor prize fighter—he is
eternally getting beat, but comes up
to the scratch every time. He will
be on hand next election.
The meagre returns from Virginia
indicate that the proud old state
will pay her debts, dollar for dollar,
eyen if she has to live on corn-bread
and drink only spring water.
The steamer Teutonia from Liver-
pool arrived at New Orleans on
Monday last, bringing 300 farmer
emigrants for Texas, who will in-
vest from $100 to $5,000 each in
land.
A Missouri exchange says : "Dur-
ing the recent term ot the circuit
court in Atchison county, a man was
sentenced to the penitentiary for two
years lor making a false return of
property to the Assessor, He failed
to give in $2,000 he had loaned."
Another large mill, to manufact-
ure several varieties of cotton cloth,
is projected at Augusta, Ga., and
large subscriptions to the stock of
the company have already been
made, Augusta promises to become
the Lowell of the South, and its pa-
pers are enthusiastic over its rapid
development as a manufacturing
city.
After converting Nat. Q; Hender-
son, of the Williamson County Re-
cord, Maj. Penn, the "eminent Texas
reviyalist" has wended his way to
Houston, where he expects to suc-
cessfully tackle the Telegram man.
In the event of his successful contest
with Bartow, we recommend Austin
as a "field anew and pasture grden,"
more especially as the editor of the
News is at present sojourning in
that city. Ah, let the Major jump
Murray and Dupre!
We mod estly advise our conferee
of the Waco Telephone not to
"crow" before he gets out of the
woods. If he will reason with
himself a moment, he will certain-
ly see that the division on a State
ticket is not a presidential one by
any means. Of one thing we can
assure the gentleman who is. so
jubilant at his waning chances of
eating crow,—the Democracy will
not elect a president in 1SS0 without
New York State, and to certainly
secure New York State, we will state
again more modestly to the Tele-
phone, it will have to take Mr.
Tilden! Oh! ah'he, he, he. Can
you observe any crow, Mr. T ? No
feathers anywhere—no down, even?
Take Ayer's Sarsaparilla to purify the
blood and purge out the humors, pimple&,
boils and sores which are merely emhlems
of the rottenness within.
Isaac C. Wears, of Philadelphia, a
pure-blooded nejjro, and one of the
most intelligent men in the country,
agrees with Fied Douglass in dis-
couraging the emigration of the peo-
ple of his race from the south. Mr.
Wears says very sensibly that the
negro will find that the most refined
and cultured of his race are socially
unrecognized in the north, and he
asks this pertinent question: "If the
blacks can be driven from communi-
ties where they are in the majority,
wilf not the same thing be likely to
happen to them in northern com-
munities?" Mr. Wears says, further,
that where the colored people of the
south are getting on comfortably,
there they s.iouid remain. He has
a firm belief in the process of time

SHERMAN'S.
Prickly Ash Bitters
And Malarifuge,
THESE BITTERS wiil prevent con-
tracting of chills and all malarial dis-
eases if properly used, by invigorating the
liver, toning the stomach, and regulating
the bowels and kidneys. It is a prepara-
tion from such vegetable extracts of
which the Prickly Ash constitutes a lead-
ing part, that enters into the regular pre-
scription practice of all medical men,
among whom Dr. Sherman is justly
classed as the successful compounder af
ter an experimental practice of 30 years,
as a complete antidote to all influences
which, if not arrested in time, terminate
in chills and fever or other malarial dis-
eases.
Though pleasant to the taste, it is not a
beverage, (as the extracts are helj in so-
lution in pure Holland gin only) because
of its cathartic properties, and is therefore
an infallible remedy for habitual constipa-
tion.
THE MALARIFUGE is a certain cure
for chills when once contracted. It has
never failed to effect a cure where the di-
rec'ions, which accompany each bottle,
are followed.
Druggists are hereby authorized to re-
fund the money to any party purchasing
who claims a cure is not effected, provid-
ing the directions are followed and the
empty bottle returned. For sale by ail
druggists. 6,7 '7qdwiy

A GOOD PLAN—THE MOST
PROFITABLE way for dealing
in stocks is by combining many orders
and co operating them as a whole, divid-
ing profits pro rata atnorg the sharehol-

immense capital and experienced skill,
and can use any amount from $10 to

Is wonderful in its conception, un-
precedented for doing a large range of
sewing in textile fabrics and leather. Its
motions are continuous, admitting of an
extraordinary rate of speed, either by
steam or foot power. Every motion of the
treadle makes six stitches, thus produc-
ing about one-third more work in a day
than other Sewing Machines. It has no
stop motions, and tightens the stitch with
the needle out of the fabric. It uses the
well-known Wilson Compound Feed on both sides of the needle. It
has two-thirds less parts than any other first-class Sewing Machine.
Its arm Is fully eight and one-half inches long and five and one-half
Inches high, and the whole Machine Is very compactly and scion*
tiflcaliy constructed In proportions, elegance, design and appear*
