about 130000. The socialists polled a

will decide the question of whether or
not state-wido prohibition will bo sub-
mitted to a Vote of tho people.

Lundy who is chnrged with tho kill-
ing of A. II. Andorson in Jones county
on October 1 1901 has had six trials.
This Is the seventh. Originally tho
caso Was heard at Alison and on the
first trial tho jury gavo Lundy flvq

a hung jury resulted In tho second.
At Snyder which wns the third trial
the jury could not agree and atj Sweet-

Genl. Carter served with Genorals
McCuIloeh Walker and Moultan dur-
ng the entire Confederate Avar and was
ver faithful honorable and valiant
Ho was made Adjutant of Mounts Di-
vision with tho rank of General. In
3890 Genl Carter came to Abilene with
his family and resided horo till his
death. IIq was a well known and much
loved citizen and leaves his widow
Mrs Ella M. Carter nnd tho following
children to mourn his 'doss; Misses
Knto and Ollle Carter and Messrs Ear-
nest and R. E Carter Jr. with other
ulntives Intimate friends and the en.

cast at Hamby of which the Socialist
