Sale By Drink
Wins a Round
AUSTIN, March 17.—Sale of
liquor by the drink on local option
Monday bounced out of a House
Committee by vote of 10 to 8 de-
spite a sub-group's minority report
attacking the bill's constitutionality.
Authored by Representative Dwy-
er of San Antonio, the proposal
would limit alcoholic content of a
drink to 33 per cent by volume and
permits would be issued only to es-
talblishments where more food than
beverages was sold. A tax of 10 per
cent of the gross proceeds on such
sales would be allocated to aid age
pensions.

BILL MARTIN
GETS REWARD
Several weeks ago Bill Martin of
Fort Worth got the license number
of a car driven by robbers who had
just hijacked a liquor store. He
turned the number over to officers,
which resulted in the arrest of the
hijackers.
. Friday Bin was encountered by a
detective who asked him to go to
the City Han with him for some of
the detectives to identify him. Not
knowing what it was all about, he
gravely followed. He be<|ame even
more solemn when two men nodd-
ed to each other and said, "yes,
that's the man." But Bill grinned
with surprise when a moment later
h« was presented with $25, as a
reward for his assistance in the
capture of the ring of hijackers.
The money had been collected from
victims of, the hijackers and other
business men.
He is the son of Mrs. W. B. Sea-
man of Fort Worth, and they are
dormer residents of Gainesville,
Bill having attended high school
here.

j Rye Patch, Nevada.
j The University museum display-
j ed a largo slab of pegmatite Allow-
ing parts of three emerald in-
clusions besides beryl, quartz or-
