Grand Jury
Returns Eight
Indictments
The Montague County Grand
Jury convened Monday morning
in District Court, returning eight
indictments and heard one plea
of guilty.
Jerry Don Kilpatrict of Nocona
who was charged with burglary
and theft entered a plea of guilty
and waived a trial by jury. He
received a five year probated
sentence.
Two other Nocona boys, Eddie
Lee Terry and James Frazier,
were indicted for theft over $50.
They are both free on bond.
Billy G. Smith was indicted on
two counts for forgery and pass-
ing. He is being held in the
county jail. Deputy Sheriff,
Howard Middleton said Smith is
a parole violater from the State
Penitentiary of Colorado and is
wanted in several other counties.
Three other indictments were
issued against persons who are
not yet under arrest and their
names have not been released.
This "Surry with th eFringe on Top" lacks only the fringe to be
a pcrfect replica ef that old fashioned mode of transportation that
is described in that song. Seated in the front seat of the surry is
Raymond Carver, owner, and his two boys, Jerry and Bill. Riding
in the rear is Kenny Carver, James Cooksey, and Charles Cook.
The fine looking animals providing the horse-power belong to Brien
Gaston. Raymond bought the surry in Era and repaired and painted
it. The kids 'round the neighborhood arealways anxious to see him
pass by because they might get the thrill of a ridee around the
block. It provides much fun and enjoyment for the Carver clan too.

JOO'Horsepower "Tandem" Tractor Developed
or juid
* Agricultural research engineers .have
found a simple ipethod of converting two
standard* tractors into a four-wheel'drive
tractor, producing over 100 horsepower. The
inversion can be made by one man in less
an hour arid a half, as the two pictures
ow. All parts needed for the conversion
shown on the ground in the top picture,
developed by Ford Motor Company's
id Implement Division, this 'Han-
dem" tractor is capable of pulling seven or
eight bottom plows; for other field work its
two power units can be used independently.
Basic unit needed for this low-cost answer
to infrequent high-horsepower demands is
the Ford 6000 tractor at tight. Its exclusive
power-shift transmission can readily be re-
motely controlled; any • conventional row-
crop or general - purpose traewroan bei
adapted as the rear unit.
