Dennis Exchange Vows

Nuptial vows were recited Sat-
urday night by Linda Joyce Hughes
and J. Calvin Dennis, Jr. The
bridegroom's father, the Rev. J.
Calvin Dennis, performed the
ceremony held in Clarendon Drive
Baptist Church, in Dallas. The
musical program was provided by
Miss Polly Lawson and Jack K.
Hughes.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Glenn Harold Hughes
and the Rev. and Mrs. Dennis, both
of Dallas.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was attired in an in-
formal bridal gown of Chantilly
lace and taffeta, designed with a
sequin-sprinkled bateau neckline.
A wide band of lace encircled the
hem of the waltz length skirt. Her
bouquet was of antique white gla-
mellias.
Mrs. B. E. Solomon was matron
of honor. Bridesmaids were Mmes.
Roy Ramsey and Doyle Geiser,
sisters of the groom. Sharon Gale
Owens and Betty Jean Hughes, a
sister of the bride, lighted candles.
Billy Dennis, the bridegroom's
brother, was the best man. Doyle
Geiser and Roy Ramsey were

groomsmen. Justin Dennis and
James Holbrook seated guests.
Ringbearer was 'Bobby Jim

A reception was held at the home
of the bride's parents.
After a wedding trip to West
Texas, the couple will establish
residence at 105 Terrace in Dallas.

MEETS TUESDAY AT CHURCH
On Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.,
members of the Wesleyan assem-
bled at the Methodist Church for
the continuation of their study on
the "Gospel of Luke."
Mrs. Schell Jackson, as leader,
presented the think lesson of the
study course, concerning portions
of Chapter? 9 to 17.
The meeting opened and closed
with prayers offered by Mrs. E. N.
Dunbar and Mrs. Cooper Price.

Saint Jo Garden Club Meets,
With Mrs. Tom White
Mrs. Tom White presented the
program lor the meeting of the
Garden Club at her home on West
Williams street on Tuesday after-
noon. The topic chosen was "The
Poetry of Trees."
Mrs. White opened the program
with an original poem, "November"
and closed it with "Tree Lovers."
Highlights of the discussion were
the showing of bits of trees, their
bark, their fruit and various species
of pine cones, together with pic-
tures made on a trip Mr. and Mrs.
White made this year through the
Western and Northwestern states.
Preceding the program, Mrs. C.
D. Meador, president, presided over
a business meeting. of committee
reports on the recent Flower Show.
Plans for the next meeting "A
Christmas Workshop," which will
be held at the Methodist Church
Annex and for the Christmas party
were perfected.
At the close of the meeting, mem-
bers present enjoyed a car pilgrim-
age to view the gorgeous autumn
trees east of the city.
Word drill for the afternoon was
on Pyracauthia.
In attendance were Mmes. J. K.
Seibold, James Woodruff, C. E.
Cunningham, Artie Williams, T. C.
Davis, R. J. Samples, John Smith,
J. C. Donnell, and V. W. Clayton.
BLUEBONNET STUDY CLUB
MEETS WITH MRS. REDMAN
The Bluebonnet Study Club met
with Mrs. C. C. Redman Thursday,
November 12.
An interesting talk on safety on
the highway was given by Mrs.
Craig Lawson.

WEDNESDAY BRIDGE CLUB
MEETS WITH MRS MEADOR
The Wednesday Bridge Club met

themums grown by the hostess.

THURSDAY WITH MRS. BAKER
The Peabody Home Demonstra-
tion Club met Thursday, November
12, with Mrs. C. A. Baker to quilt
a Quilt and enjoyed a covered dish
lunch.
Mrs. J. P. Embry gave the pro-
gram on "Tree For Texas."

Belle Cable, Wayne Thompson, J.
P. Embry. W. E. Woods and the
hostess, Mrs. Baker.
ILLINOIS BEND FRIENDSHIP
CLUB MEETS ON WEDNESDAY
Mrs. Virginia Castle presided at
the meeting of the Illinois Bend
Friendship Club Wednesday, Nov.
11th.
Ten members were present at the
meeting.
The program for the afternoon
consisted of the election of officers
and a discussion of future achieve-
ments for the club.
New officers elected were Bernice
Parker, president; Pauline Lyons,
vice-president; Charlene Lyons,
secretary; Opal Davenport, treasur-
er; Ava Dowd, reporter; Bernice
Parker, charge of recreation period.

TURKEY'S STILL
GOOD ON THE
DAY AFTER!
ENGLISH TURKEY PIE
4 cups roast turkey diced
Vi pound smoked ham, shredded
Vt cup turkey dressing or
2 tablespoons toasted bread
crumbs
2 hard cooked eggs sliced
6 large ripe olives sliced
12 tiny pearl onions parboiled
lit teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon rind
1% cups thick turkey gravy
Salt and pepper
Line a large casserole or baking
dish with puff paste or a rich pas-
try. Brush inside with egg beaten
with 1 tablespoon milk. Pour in
turkey mixture, top with pastry.
Seal the edges and make a hole in
center of top for steam to escape.
Brush with remaining egg mixture.
Bake uncovered in a very hot oven
for 15 minutes, reduce heat and
continue baking for 1 hour.
TURKEY ANGOSTURA
Blend 4 tablespoons shortening
with 2 tablspoons flour, 2 cups
turkey stock made from bones, V*
cup cream, a dish of cayenne and
salt to taste. Fold in \\<i cups cold
diced turkey. 2 hard cooked eggs
cut in eighths, V4 cup sliced mush-
rooms that have simmered for 3
minutes in a little butter, Vs cup
shredded blanched almonds and %
leaspoou Angostura. Cook until
stock is th'ckened.
