Mr, J. E. Ourry
Chief of Police
Oity of Dallas
Dallas, Texas
Dear Mr# Ourry:
This school term I am in the Dakotas working through
the University of North Dakota. I use my collection
of historic Houdini Irons to capture the student's
attention. I present thoughts on crime not paying -
the wonderful free country we have - and that we can
choose our professions. This presentation holds the
attention of young and old alike and I have met with
wonderful success.
Jim Scott of the Southern School Assemblies in Austin
is booking me in the Southern Area for next season.
Feel free to contact him if you wish to investigate
my honor and integrity.
The two years following I will delve deeper into
crime prevention when I am booked by National School
Assemblies Agency of Los Angeles.
The handcuffs that were on Lee Harvey Oswald at the
time he was shot would be invaluable to me in bringing
my message to the young people of America. I trust
you will part with them at this time and I assure you
they will be used for a good cause.
Enclosed is a check of I15 so you can replace them
and enough to cover postage and insurance. Thank you
for your kindness.
As a token of further appreciation I will gladly put
on a benefit program free of charge next fall or winter
You select the sponsor and make the arrangements and 1
will entertain for an hour or an hour and a half.
Yours Sincerely, /)
