militaristic view of the situation and
it is not unreasonable to expect that
this change of attitude will continue
until those who formerly opposed in
L creased defenses will" be proponents
of universal military ' serviced .. The
indications are that the time is fast
approaching when universal service
will be demanded to meet the exigen-
cies of what many call military- age.
The fruit -growers of California

markets and refusing . to sell except
at a given price .they are liable to
prosecution- under the Sherman anti

to control prices. - It the producers
disorganize their marketing associa-

Ills Christmas Greetings.
Even" if we .didn't get any presents
we received some good -wishes. One
lovely set of good wishes is from
Mr and Mrs JR. Ransome Jr. of
Cleburne Mrs. Ransome runs the
Cleburne Enterprise while Bob sjts
in a private room at the postoffice
md Waits for pay day to arrive. An
other st of- wishes is from Rev. John.
Power of Brownwood; who edits "The
Parson's Column" and preaches to a
portion of Brownwood's splendid sin
ners. William A. Bowen of' Arling-
ton wishes us "happiness and suc-
cess" for the coming year and we
fire going to make every effort to
ffnd the happiness. John E. Cooke of
the Rockdale Reporter remembered us
with a lot of pretty wishes. James C.
White of the: Brownwood Bulletin
writes- "I hope you will survive
Martha's' Christmas shopping and en-
joy the New Year." We can't tell for
certain about her shopping until the
bills arrive but judging by the goods
; purchased we fear that the merchants
of Fort Worth had . more confidence
in us a week ago than they ever will
have again. Jim Lowry's wishes were
expressed in original poetry but
since lie has never wronged us we
shall hot ouote his lines. Claude

mo-able courL As he stood in the
station building of that town and wait-
ed for the automobile that was to take
him to other parts tears streamed
down his cheeks. One of his dwind-
ling entourage murmured a few com-
forting words but to these King Pet-
er merely nodded.
In many respects King Peter. Is the
most dramatic figure of the European
war. Two regicides are intimately
connected with his history the mur
der .of his predecessor Alexander Ob-
renovitch and his Queen Draga. and
the assassination of the Archduke of
Austria' the Dual Monarchy's heir
presumptive. There are those who
claim that King Peter knew of the
two plots that indeed he was the in-
stigator of the former. How true this
is- would be hard to say in the ab-
sence pf more evidence than has so
far been' produced. Certain it is only
that King Peter showed no inclina-
tion to be' severe with the regicides In
either case. He even managed to be
oh good terms with Major Misitch
arch villain of the crime in the old
Konak offBelgrade thirteen years ago.
Peter Karageorovitch never forgot
and never was permitted to forget
that he had taken the place of a man
who had been foully murdered. Only
a lew sovereigns -consented to meet
him and he was always so 1H at ease
