in order to keep our citizens
informed, I've called a Town
HaJI meeting for 7 p.m. Thurs-
day, March 9, at Sachse City
HaJI at which time a presenta-
tion of the rate consultant's
study revealing wastewate
treatment overcharges by
Guiana to Sachse and Rcw-
ett, and an overview of the
options open to Sachse on
this issue will highlight the
meeting.
City department heads will
aso present brief reports.
hope more of our citizens
wi attena this meeting than
-ave attended Town HaJI or
City Council meetings in the
cast. Although the wastewat-
er treatment issue will be the
-eeting's prime focus, staff
cesentations will give a good
cicture of where Sachse
s:a"ds on a variety of issues
ana where we are heading.
f you can't attend, be sure
to read highlights in the
Sacnse Sentinel issue im-
mediately following the
~eeting. And, in a couple of
weeks, you will receive by
mai my annual State of the
City letter which will also re-
mind you of the upcoming
To*n Hall meeting.
want to pay speciaJ note to
tie response Sachse's Public
Works Department gave to
'•"e ice and snow days just
cast. The first night the Arctic
express blew in, our people
were on the job at 4 am. to
sand critical roadway a'eas
and to make Su'e tie c'-nging
temperatures didn't cSsruct
utilities. Many beyond-the-ca'i
-of-duty hours were ^eedea
during the winter's cc d grip
on Sacnse a"d o^r cecp e re-
sponded admira y.
Postscript: I've already writ-
ten so much anout the new
MunicipaJ Service Center that
my pride is obvious, but I still
must cite a few of the key
people who made that
exceptions project possible
at such an exceptional cost
savings. A specia tha-ks to
Mike Murphy of Murphy En-
gineering and Design, the
project engineer; " Henry
Luman of Concrete Wa s.
Inc., the contractor; M.W.
Halpern & Co., paving con-
tactor; Dave Do^thy of
International ^ence Co., fenc-
ing contractor; Ha'ry Ward,
Jr., of HRM Ltd. Partnership,
who donated the a~d; Bill
Nicholson, vs":o donated the
live oak trees, Sachse Public
Works Director Ja~es Porter,
who put in a lot of extra time
and effort; ana Sachse City
Manager Lloyd Henderson,
who nurtured a~d too-* charge
of the project fro^" concept to
completion
