EAST TEXAS FAMILY RECORDS VOL. a 3 FL 1989
remarried and died on the homestead in 1912. Note that this affidavit was not
made until 33 years after the death of the wife and 18 years after the death of
the husband. The next affidavit checked was on a man and his wife who lived in
Smith County and reared a family. The husband died several years before his wife
who died in Tyler in 1930. The children, their marital status, and addresses at
the time were given.
The following suggestions are appropriate:
* If you do not find a will or administration on an estate,
don't overlook the possibility of an affidavit of death
and heirship, especially if an interest in land was involved.
* Don't confine your search to a period immediately after the
death. An affidavit might have been made many years later.
* Be sure and check both the direct and reverse deed index.
* Check in abstract offices for possible unrecorded affidavits.
