An Episode.
A BIFRISHM CHANGE
TO PLAIN ENGLISH.
Every reader of newspaper lias observed
time, and again, in the advertisers col-
umns, manv singular and frequently un-
pronouncable names of medicinal reme-
dies. The Ereek and Latin languages
especially have been drawn upon to furn-
ieh names by whieh patent medicines
could be introduced to the public. The
inference is, in many cases at least, tha
their proprietors depend more upon the
attraction of high sounding titles tban up-
on the essential merits of the remedie
themselves. #
It is retresmg once m a while to end a
medicine advertised, whose simple, intel
jgible name in English at once conveys to
threader an understanping of the usee
oed purposes os the aemedy.
A notable instance of this kind in found
in the medicines ot Dr C W Benson, whose
Skin Curemd Celeoy and Chamomile PiiJs
impart at onca, in their names, either their
durpose or the ingredients which compose
them. Dr Benson's Skin Cure is warrant-
ed to heal all diseases of the skin, such as
tetters, humors, inilamation, milk crust
eczema, diseases of the hair and scalp,
scrofula, ulcers, pimples and itching* on all
parti ol the boby. It makes the skin white,
HO<"t and smooth, removes tan and freckles,
and is the best toilet dressing in existence.
Its popularity is attested by the immense
.-ales of it which are taking place every-
where*
jfcyrTt is the only genuine "Skin Cure"
? nd all should beware of the various rem-
edies which have been drugging for exis-.

Nor do I think that one apart.
Who watched my tranqmll orow,
Would have guessed that the memory
stirred my heart
Of a faithless, broken vow.
Aiitl they needn't have guessed or wonder-

For this was the reason why—

And so—she passed me by.
