Of Interest to Ex-Soldiers*
The Indianapolis Journal has compil-
ed the following points of interest to ax-
soldiers relating to the bounty laws.
Those who are interested would do well
to cut out and preserve it:
"No bounty paid to volunteers for en-
listments before the commencement of
the rebellion, April 12, 1861; nor after
April 30,1865, in any case—nor for 100
davs, or three, six and nine months men.
'1. Becision of supreme court, March
14; 1870; and act April 22,1872. This sp-
lits only to enlistments for three years,
i'rior to July 22,1861, and since the com-
mencement of the rebellion. All volun-
teers who enlisted for three years prior
to July 22, 1861, and who were mustered)
into the service for three years before
August 6,1861, are entitled to$100boun
ty, if they have been honorably discharg-
ed and have not received the same for
such 6ervece. Those discharged for pro-
motion by way of favor are not entitled
to this bounty.
"2. Act of July 22, 1861, gives $100
bounty for two and three years volun-
teers, from April 12, 1861, to December
24,1863 (except veteran volunteers and
recruits for old organisations), and also
from April 1, 1864, to July 18,1864, if
they served 2 years or more as enlisted
men, or were honorably discharged as
such on acconnt of wounds received in
line of duty before two years' service.
"Also additional bounty, act July 28,.
