The Canadian Wildcats re-
main undefeated after running
over the White Deer Bucks last
Friday night 34 to 0
The Wildcats had complete
control of the game scoring one
touchdown in the first quarter
two In the second one In the
third and one In the fourth
Tom Hopkins led the scoring
with two touchdowns and three
extra points to bring his season
total to 53 points
John McMordle caught a pass
from Bill Cross and ran 50 yards
for the third touchdown
Lopez made a 15yard gain to
the twoyard line and as he was

School Building
High school students celebrat
ed Halloween a day early this
year to the dismay of the super
intendent and faculty whose
well laid plans to guard the high
school building went astray
when a cow hay and a chicken
were put Into the new auditor
ium Tuesday night
The usual number of old
tires barrels etc were used to
clutter up the grounds A new
gate on the school premises was
torn down and will have to be
rebuilt
Wednesday night the building
was guarded by students Bill
Price Harold Cumutt Frankie
and Johnnie McMordle and
James Elkins so further dam-
age was avoided
INDUCTED INTO SERVICE

Oklahoma City to be Inducted

Jim Strader remains in a crit
ical condition at his home here
He has been very ill for several

AWAY IN FORT WORTH
Mrs A R King notified friends
here yesterday of the death of
her sister Mrs E R Conner of
Fort Worth who passed away
there at 245 yesterday after
noon
Mrs Conner had many friends
In Canadian as she visited in the
King home here many times
Mrs King has been with her
for several weeks

Big Success Here
The school carnival held at the
city hall Wednesday night was
a huge success and drew an
enormous crowd of all ages
The booths were attractively dec-
orated and all did a rushing
business
Miss Norma Watson senior
class candidate was elected
carnival queen
The reports are not all In as
yet and It Is not known how
much the affair benefitted the
school

Calvin W Isaacs who received
his discharge from the Seabees
September 5 took up his duties
again yesterday morning as
vicepresident of the First Nat-
ional bank here
Mr Isaacs was In the service
28 months most of which time
was spent In the Hawaiian and
Marshall islands where he work-
ed In the censors office

walk Calif In a Methodist par

The bride wore a fuscia crepe

tended by her sister Mrs Doris
McDonald
The groom was dressed In his
naval uniform and one of his
buddies Wendell Miller acted
as Lest man
Mrs Merrell Is the daughter
cf Mr and Mrs Mt A Thomp
son of Fargo She attended
school at Tangier She has a
large circle of friends in Cana-
dian having resided here for
several years
Mr Merrell is the son of Mr
and Mrs W A Merrell and was
born and reared In Hemphill
cqunty He is a graduate of the
Canadian high school and at
tended the Coyne Electrical
school In Chicago He has been
in the navy three years two of
them overseas in the Pacific
area
The young couple will make
their home for the present at
Long Beach Calif

er Mrs W W Owens are suf
ferlng from the after effects of
being gassed at their home here
recently
Mrs Owens became uncpn
sclous from the effects of the
gas and Mrs Teas called a doe
tor and then passed out her-
self
t was not known at the time
they were treated that gas was
the cause of the illness Later
it was found that the flu was
stopped up and the used gas
fumes had accumulated under
the house and had been coming
up through the ventilators They
had noticed 111 effects before
but never suspected the cause

hill county citizens some time
ago It Is thought that many
who Intend to give a Texans
share just havent had time to
mall their donations
If these people would do so
this weekend It would be great-
ly appreciated

STUCK TRAIN WHISTLE
MONDAY MORNING
The train whistle which
aroused Canadian folks about
6 oclock Monday morning by
blowing for more than thirty
minutes was caused by the
mechanism being stuck The
train had come all the way from
Woodward with the whistle
blowing and the loss of the ex-
tra steam caused quite a bit of
trouble
Mr and Mrs Lewis Marvis of
Amarlllo visited friends and
relatives here Wednesday
Cert Callaway called his par
ents from California Navy day
He had just arrived from the
Pacific He expects to be home
around the first of the year
Alpha Phi of the University of
