Coward Funeral Home Has Tradition
Of 41 Years Of Service To Area
Coward Funeral Home at
105 North Third Street in Mid-
lothian lives up to a forty-one
year old tradition of service
that began when the funeral
home was started by Pat Mar-
tin.
Noel and Stella Coward be-
came the owners of the busi-
ness five years ago and have
provided a complete funeral
service as well as a number of
extra services.
The Chapel at Coward's of-
fers seating for 190 with a
family room that has a private
entry for mourners that seats
60. The home offers tradi-
tional simplicity that cannot
be found in many of the newer
facilities of it's kind.
The funeral home is located
on the ground floor and the
Cowards live upstairs.
Among the other services
offered by the home are mon-
uments, ambulance service,
and a pre-need insurance plan.
Monuments of all sizes and
types are on display near the
entry to the office of the home.
The insurance plan enables
a couple to plan and pay for
their funeral in advance and is
the type of insurance plan ap-
proved by the Texas Old Age
Assistance Department,
Coward Funeral Home is a
member of the National Asso-
ciation of Funeral Directors
and the Texas Association of
Funeral Directors.
Coward, a native of Midlo-
thian, and his wife, who is from
Fort Worth, are both grad-
uates of the. Dallas Institute
of Mortuary Science. He has
been in the mortuary business
for 19 years.
He is active in most civic
affairs in Midlothian and is
president of the Midlothians
Lions Club, a member of the
Chancer of Commerce, and a
director of the Civic Center.
The Cowards have two
children, six-year-old Noel
Jr., and a daughter, Courtney,
age 4.
The Cowards are active
members of the Midlothian
Church of Christ.
W. C. "Skeet" Meador, an
associate of the Cowards, has
worked for the funeral home
since 1957. Ray Miller is also
employed and attends Dallas
Mortuary Science and plans
to graduate in August.
