Island elevated forty-five feet above the level of the fata, dis-

THE Fall Term of this Institution will commence on Mon-

Pupils- from a distance can be accommodated in the building
occupied by the Pn sident of the Institution, who in conjunc-
tion with the other Teachers, will at all times exercise a pa-
rental guardianship over those entiusted to their care. In or-
der to carry this plan fully into execution a large boarding
house i now being fitted up, a few yards distant from the pres-
ent building of the University. The pupils will have access to
a choice library and reading room, in the most pleasant and
healthy part of ihe city.
In proof of the excellency of the government and instruction
of ihe Institution, the Trustees would inform the public tha
about one year ago, (the period of its commencement) there
were but five pupils, and during the last term there were ne
hundred. In order to bring its benefits within the reach of all

by the Rosepdale, Cement Works, andknowp as "Lawren-
ce'srRisendale Hyraulic Cement," and nsed in the construction of
the new custom house, in thi3 city, has been found an excellent ma,
terial for laying stdne aigi brick work, agalso for floors, giving enrirp
satisfaction ; so that we with confidence recommend the said ce-
ment, believing it lo bequalif not superior, to any manufactured in
the United States.

The subscribers, (Masons,) engaged upon the work of the nevr
customhouse, from ita .coinmencemenf, being requested to state1
their opinion as to the quality of the Rgsendale Cement, declare that
they have aided in pulling down buildings in the old country, which,
had stood for upwards of five hundred years, and that on one or two.
occasions they had to remove some of the: work on this building,
which had only been laid in the Rosendale Cement for about three
months, hereby freely certify that it wad as hard and firm as thafc
which had stood for five hundred years.

BY an Act of Congress passed Ihe 23d of May, 1838, it is.
made the dnty "of the several collectors of the Ports,
throughout the Republic, to appoint and control Pilots for theis
respective ports;" and in order that all interested may be in
formed thereof, the following regulations for the government of

All vessels inward bound, ipoken by a pilot outside the bar,
and refusing his services, will pay half pilotage-.
