RO WAND'S TONIC MIXTURE, or Vegetable Febri-
fuge ; a specific and lasting cure for the Fever and Ague.
This worthy remedy earnestly repels the slur of being a quack
medicine, it having been the result of manv.vears studi- mp.
rience, and labor, in the medical practice and obvseration of
FEVERr AND AGUE. It is composed of such medicinal
principlesaswere considered most fit to restore theharmonv nf

cu 01 reuuercu vciy precarious; uy wnicn cnect, vigor and
strength is soon afforded to the whole system. Ii must be ap-
parent to all, that a medicine posseising these peculiar virtues,
is useful in a great variety of complaints. By .renewing the
healthy action of the digestive organs, it has proved itself of re-
markable benefit in Dyspepsia, Depraved Appeti'e, Heart burn,
Water Brash, Flatulency, Jandice, Night Sweats, Dysentary,
Bowel Complaints, and many other affections of similar origin.
But it is in the treatment of Fevers, and especially in FEVER
AND AGUE, or Intermittant Fever, that its powers have been
principally tested, and with those who have seen its usefulness
it is pronounced sovereign toall remedies heretofore discovered
for those diseases. It has also been ued as a preventive by
many who were subject to a periodical recurrence of the Ch'ills
and Fever, and it has always warded off the apprehended attack.
For further accounts of its great usefulness, see pamphlets ac

The Rev. C. S. IVES and Lady would respectfully inform the
citizens of this place and its vicinity that they are now prepared to
receive pupils of both sexes into their institution, and to instruct them!
m all ttie branches of a substantial and finished education. "
From the delightful location and health of Matagorda; from the
comforts and convenience of a well-built town; from a strong desire
of the people to establish and maintain a high tone of moral feeling
in the community; from the laudable observance of the Loid's day,
aud regular attendance of the citizens on Divine Service, which is
now held uninterruptedly on every Sunday; and from there being a
regular Sunday School 111 town, this cannot but be a very desirable
place for an institution for the education of the jonng.
Mr Ives is a graduate of one of the tim colleges in the United
States; and Mrs. Ives was educated in the beat schools for young
ladies in New England; besidts which they have both for many
years past been engaged either as Principals or Assistants In the first
literary institutions m the United States. For their qualifications,
success and reputation in teaching, they leave thefollowing testimo-
nials to speak.
TESTIMONIALS.
"I have been long acquainted with the Rev. Mr. Ives, and Know
him to be an excellent classical and English scholar. Mrs. Ives
taught a female seminary for se end years, in the city of Hartlord
Connecticut, with distineuished reputation. 1 have full confidence
in the qualifications of Mr and Mrs Ives to conduct a seminary of
tne nigtiest orucr, m auen a manner as to attord general satislacuon

"I have been acquainted with the Rev. Calebs. Ives for many
years pa,t,ond during the last two years have been associated with
him as an officer of this institution. I have found him excellently
fitted in all respects to be an instructor of youth. His industry, de-
cision, and patient eood ttreoer cuahfv him m a hinh decree as a
governor o. the young, while his accurate scholarship and untiring
zeal render him equally successful as a teacher. In commuting their
children to the instruction of Mr. Ives, parents may feel the most
"assurance that they arc placing them under the care of one, who is
perfectly competent to all he undertakes, and who will look with the
most scrupulous care to the fulfilment of every trust committed to
