1. Provide a complete, dated list of the ownerships of the land
where the structure is located.
The Phillip Henry Gerhard home was built in 1887 on lots carved
out of a 59 acre tract of land granted to Lewis Horst in 1848 by
Governor George T. Wood. After the deaths of Lewis and Margaret
Horst (wife) the land was divided among the Horst children.
P. H. Gerhard bought Lots 11 and 12 in Block 34 in Horst's
Addition Division "D" of the city of Austin, Travis County in
the following manner:
Original land grant to Lewis Horst by Governor George T.
Wood in 1848. Lewis Horst preceded his wife in death; Margaret
Horst died in 1879 and the estate was divided among her children.
Lot Number 11
A deed of transfer was recorded Sept. 1, 1879 in Vol 44
page 151 in which the executors of Margaret Horst's will
issued Lot #11 to James Horst, son of Margaret and Lewis
Horst
A deed of transfer was recorded on Apil 15, 1886 in Vol 67
page 507 in which James Horst sold Lot #11 to his brother,
LewisA deed of transfer was recorded on May 18, 1887 in Vol 74
page 518 in which Lewis Horst sold Lot #11 to P. H. Gerhard
A deed of transfer was recorded on March 14, 1912 in which
the heirs of P. H. and Lena Pfaefflin Gerhard --William H.
Gerhard, Harry H. Gerhard and Herman F. Gerhard sold their
interest in the lot #11 to their sister, Clara Louise
Gerhard Schoch, wife of E. P. Schoch
Lot #11 given to the E. P. Schoch children (Arthur Gerhard
Schoch, Margaret Schoch Eppright and Eugene P. Schoch, Jr.)
in application for probate of will #22871, page 2, filed
Sept. 1, 1961 in Probate Proceedings.
