Withdrawn From the Race )
To tho Democratic Voters of Wil-
liamson County :
Appreciating tho fact that it is
the .right and privilege of any cit-
izen of this county to aspire to
any .office within the gift of the
people, that he is competent to
fill. On that ground I announced
my candidacy for the office of
County Treasurer, believing that
it would not require a small for-
tune to secure an election, not
that advanced years was neces-
sarily an indispensible qualifica
tion therefor, but owing the fact
that there are now five candidates
in tho race for that office, there-
by rendering it uncertain wjjf
will be able to secure tho nomina
tion in tho primaries to-be held on
the 10th of tho present month, and
owing the further fact that I have fore breaking?
not sufficient means with which
to enable me to complete the can
vass satisfactorily to myself, I,
have therefore decided to with-
draw from the race.
To those who have pledged mo
their support, I horeby return my
sincere thanks and if in the future
I can3ervo you,' you have but to
command mo. To thos'e who in-
tended to givo m.o their votes and
influonco, I feel grateful and am
undor lasting obligations.
YoursTruly,
J.J.GORDON.

Hero is a list of questions for
tho wide-awake boy. Can you
answer them? You have seen a
white horse' but did you over see
a white colt? How many different
kinds 6f trees grow in your neigh
borhood, and what are they good
for? Why does a horse eat grass
backward and a cow forward?
Why does a hop vino wind one
way and a bean vine tho other?
Where should a chimney bo tho
largest, at the top or bottom, and
why? Can you tell why a horse,
when tethered with a rope, al-
ways untwists it, while a cow al-
ways twists it into a kinky knot?
How old must a grape vino be be-
fore it begins to bear? Can you
tell why leave tura upside dow,
