Coining a name of one,two
or three words will bring
10 lucky college men and
women what may be the'
highest per-word rate in
history—10 '56 Ford Thun-
derbirds.
The $50,000 "Name the
Viceroy Filter" contest
has become one of the most
popular extra-curricular
activities at colleges and
universities, as evidenced
by the flood of entries al-
ready received from 48
states.
Open only to college stu-
dents, the contest is being
conducted by Viceroy,
America's largest selling
filter-tip cigarette, to find
a name for their exclusive
filter made from pure,
white cellulose. The dead-
line for entries is Jan.31,
1956.
Totaling $50{p00 in prizes,
the contest will have 10
first place awards of the
dazzling new, fully equip-
ped 1956 Ford Thunder-
bird. A school organiza-
tion or club designated by
each of the 10 winners will
also receive an RCA Vic-
tor Big Color Television
set.
Addition ally, 40 other
students will be awarded
second prizes of Columbia
Hi-Fi phonographs in
beautiful mohogany.
The simplicity of the
I'Name the Viceroy Filter"
contest is probably res-
ponsible for the keen in-
terest in the competition.
All a college student has to
do is make up a name for
the Viceroy Filter. Submit
the name on a special en-
try blank or on a plain
piece of paper, accompan-
ied by the picture of the
Viceroy Filter Tip from
the backs of two Viceroy
packages. That's all there
is to itl
There is no limit to the
number of times any col-
lege student may enter.
This newspaper is run-
ning large-space Viceroy
advertisements which give
the rules of the contest in
detail. The paper's bus-
iness manager also has
full particulars.
