will graduate from Lamar
this spring are planning to
continue their studies on the
graduate level at various un-
iversities and colleges in
the United States and abroad
English majors who will go
to graduate school are:
Wayne Cutler, James Lon-
quest, and Hershel Parker.
Cutler will attend the Per-
kins School of Theology at
Southern Methodist Univer-
sity. A grant to attend Ok-
lahoma University has been
awarded Lonquest, and Par-
ker, recipient of a Woodrow
Wilson Fellowship, will do
work at Northwestern Uni-
versity.
Di Ann Vick Lamar history
major, will attend the Uni-
versity of Pennsylvania as
a Woodrow Wilson fellow.
Merlin L. Blanchard, John
A. Curtis, and Miller B.
Walker, sociology students,
will do graduate work in
their chosen field. Blanch-
ard will attend St. Louis
University; Curtis, Tulane,
and Walker, the University
of Texas law school.
Eighteen biology students
have been accepted for ad-
mission to professional and
graduate schools. These
students and their chosen
schools were announced in
the May 1 issue of the Red-
bird.

Geology students Marvin
Crocker, William Fox, Rob-
ert Slaydon, and Lynn Shan-
non will do graduate work
next year. Crocker will go
to Texas A&M, and Fox has
received a teaching fellow-
ship to Baylor. Slaydon, who
also was granted a teaching
fellowship, will do work at
Texas Christian University.
Shannon will attend Virginia
Poly-Tech Institute.
The folio wing electrical
engineering students will do
work next year: Seth Cole-
man, recipient of the Peach
Award, will attend Tulane;
Frank F. Carden will be a
teaching fellow at Oklaho-
ma University; John Coff-
man has been granted a
teaching fellowship at the
University of Houston; and
Melvin Strauss will attend
the University of Texas.
Three mechanical engin-
sers will do work at Texas
A&Mnext year— Bobby Mus-
son, Larry Travis, and
Raymond Inover. ME stu-
dent Jerry Purswell, recip-
ient of a two year fellowships
will study at the University
of Alabama. Bernard Otto,
another member of the de-
partment, will work toward
his master's degree at Tu-
lane and has also received
a fellowship.
