STEVENS
ON
FASHIONS
By Carol Stevens
"Mmm, lookhowwell
dressed she is; she always
knows what to wear where."
How often we hear that re-
mar. It's the coed that is
always appropriately
dressed that we admire the
most. Achieving this state
of appearance is not as dif-
ficult as we some times
assume. "The art of being
well groomed is not some-
thing you're born with," but
something that can be
cultivated.
Good taste in fashions can
be acquired. Means of ac-
quiring itare all around us.
First, read all you can
regarding the latest fash-
ion trends. C on s ider the
new colors and silhouette's
and adapt them to your
coloring and figure. .Learn
to revamp last year's
wardrobe with accessories
keyed to the new season.
Have the general makeup
of your wardrobe suited to
many occasions.
Before you buy that mag-
nificent dress you can';
live without, be sure it will
fit in with your personality
and wardrobe. Divide your
wardrobe according to the
type of life you lead.
A s coeds the bulk of our
wardrobe is campus wear,
plus sportswear, date
dresses, cocktail dresses,
and m aybe a long formal
for that grand occasion. A
well-balanced, wardrobe is
the basic key to always
looking your best and being
appro priately dressed .at
all times.
To be sure you're ap-
propriately dressed for a
special occasion, inquire
around and see what others
are wearing. If you can not
find anyone use your own
d i s ere tion andremember
that simplicity is always
the best approach.

Letters To The Editor
November 4, 1959
To The Entire Campus:
Homecoming 1959 is over and is a pleasant memory
for most of us. But, I wonder what kind of impression
was made on the group toward which Homecoming is
directed; the Exes?
In spite of the fact that the annual Exefs barbecue
sponsored by the White House, the few open-houses on
campus, and the new alumni dance held on Friday night
in Hotel Be a u m ont were well -attended and well -
received, much room is left for improvement.
If o ur college alumni are expected to enjoy Home -
comingto the fullest, they must be made to assume a
more active role in participating in these activities.
They must fefel that they .are wanted--even needed.
How can we improve the situation? The following are
only a few suggestions which individuals and groups
should feel free to act upon:
(1) Begin planning your Homecoming activities as
soon as school resumes in the fall;
(2) ' Every organization can enter a float (there's lots
of room for small entries and sponsor and ex-member
reception;
(3) Every building on a decorated campus should be
open for inspection on Saturday;
(4) Talk to hometown alums—invite them to the
parade and help them get tickets to the game;
(5) Be proud of your college; and
(6) Pray for good weather.
Sincerely,
Hank Smith
Co-chairman, Alumni Activities
1959 Homecoming Committee
Tale of Two Cities!
Among Western Hemisphere cities
with the largest per capita enjoyment of
Coca-Cola are, interestingly enough, sunny
New Orleans and chilly Montreal. When we say,
"Thirst Knows No Season,” we’ve said
a cheerful mouthful.
So don’t take any lame excuses about its
not being hot enough for Coca-Cola. Forget
the temperature and drink up I
