At parties held through-
out file area last Sunday,
the social sororities and
fraternities selected the
students who would be
pledges for the next few
weeks.
Pledging activities began
on campus when classes
were resumed Tuesday.
Once again the student un-
ion has come to life in a
way that is evident only
during the hectic (for pled-
ges) and pleasant (for
members) period of time
known by all as pledge
season.

Evelyn Sweat, Toni Foll-
mer and Norma Russell
were named by Trans-
Texas Airlines as finalists
in the selection of a queen
who will reign over the air-
line's inaugural Beaumont -
Dallas nonstop flight
March 1.
"Miss Nonstop", who also
will receive a $50 UJS.
Savings Bond, will be an-
nounced on the eve of the
inaugural flight. She will
make the flight to Dallas,
accompanied by her
mother.
The contest was held at
Lam ar Tech and candi-
dates were named by clubs
on the campus. Miss Sweat
was named by Lambda Sig-
ma Chi, Miss Follmer By
Southern Belles and Miss
Fussell by Zeta Chi.
