KLSC To Expand Service
Through Carrier Current
"KLSC is in its second year of
crude transmission, ” said Bruce
Meyer, director of radio and
TV.
However, next year KLSC,
campus radio station, will be-
gin carrier current type trans-
miss ion beginning with Morris
Hall on a experimental basis
and extending to all the dorms
by the end of next year, said
Meyer.
Transmission by c arrier cur-
rent, based on a method devel-
oped at Perdue University,
means that the radio signal will
be carried by the regular 110 al-
ternating current lines.
Next year the station will op-
erate 11 a. m. to 10 p. m., five
days a week. Also there is a
chance that the Cardinal Hour,
carried on KTRM radio in Beau-
mont on Sunday nights, will be
expanded to three hours.
Planned for next year is a
Card inal Tape Network which
will send out recorded audio
tape to various radio stations is
Texas. The first series of 13
pro grams will be mace in co-
operation with the Lamar Music
Department. Other series will
be sports, interviews with
coaches and players, and a pos-
sibility of some educational
progamming. These tapes
will be made using the staff and
facilities ofKLSC, according to
Meyer.
Five students who gained ex-
perienceworking on KLSC have
gone on to jobs with radio and
television. There will be more
positions open for students at the
station, said Meyer.

president of the Society for the
Advancement of Management.

Daves, parliamentarian; and
Gene Bruce, representative.
SIX FLAGS OVER TEXAS - - Valentine Goodrich’,- senior biology major, and Caroline Goodrich, junior
math major, have their dance routine timed by Robert Frazier, sophomore music major. The three,
all from Beaumont, will be a part of the Six Flags Over Texas Campus Review May 28 to Sept. 5.

a $24,958 grant from the
Health, Education and Welfare
Department. The allocation
will be used to buy special ma-
terials and equipment. It was
made under the Education Act
of 1965.

Cardinal Dancers
Schedule Auditions
Auditions for membership in
Card inal Dancers will be held
Monday at 2;15 p. m. in the wo-
men’s gym, Rebecca Obenauff,
director, reports.
The group will be divided into
two sections, including ballet
and modern dance companies,
Miss Obenauf reported. This
year the dancers' repertoire in-
cluded both types of dances.
Lamar German Club
Honors Area Students
Lamar's German Club will
honor area high school students
taking German at an informal
tea in Cardinal Room II today
from 4-5 p.m., according to
Kathy Johnson, president-elect.
The tea, part of a membership
drive for next year, is planned
to encourage highschoolstudents
to continue their studies in
German by acquainting them
with Lamar's facilities and the
German Club.
Students and their teachers
have been invited from South
Park, Forest Park, Thomas
Jefferson and Beaumont High
Schools.
Favorable weather is no safe-
guard against highway acci-
dents, s ays insurance com-
panies. The overwhelming
percentage of all accidents in
1965 occurred during clear and
dry weather.

Ann M arie McManus of Port
Arthur is the new president of
Alpha Z eta chapter of Alpha
Pi Epsilon, national secretarial
honor society.
Otner officers are Linda Plaia,

secretary-treasurer; and Char-
lotte Reviea, Beaumont,
reporter.
At the election meeting,
Carolyn Borchelt of Beaumont,
outgoing president, reported on
service activities by the group
for the year, which included
participation in Career Day
conferences and Interscholastic
