Lions International to organize on campus
Lions International, a ser-
vice organization, will hold a
meeting Feb. 25 for the pur-
pose of collecting applications
from prospective student
members.
All male students are eli-
gible . The meeting, which will
begin at 7:30 p.m., will be held
in Room 104 of Setzer Student
Center. More information
may be obtained by calling Bill
McCune at 833-6213.
Mrs. Vera Campbell, as-
sistant professor of speech,
has been elected to the Board
of Texas Education Theatre
Association.
The election took place at
the annual meeting held in San
Antonio. Teachers and repre-
sentatives from secondary
schools and colleges were at
the meeting. Community
(TNT—Texas Nonprofit
Theatres) were in attendance
also.
Lamar was also repre-
sented by White Jacob, assist-
ant professor of speech, and
Pam Waldron, senior theatre
major.
Mrs. Campbell also attend -
ed the A A UN Legislative Day
in Austin as a representative
of the Beaumont Branch of
American Association of
University Women.
KVLU program guides for
January, February, and March
are now available, according
to Ray Taylor, program
director.
The new guides have the
listings for the winter quarter
which are to be broadcast at
KVLU. For further informa-
tion, contact Taylor.

Anyone interested in how
rats learn and it s relationship
to that of humans?
Dr. James E. Schroeder,
assistant professor of psy-
chology, recently applied for
a $5,000 research grant to
study incentive motivation in-
volved in the learning process
for rats.
The grant, which will be
from the National Institute of
Mental Health if awarded, is
for equipment to aid Dr.
Schroeder in his studies of the
conditions and amounts of re-
inforcement used in learning
for rats.
Notification of the grant ap-
proval or rejection is ex-
pected to be in early May,
according to Dr. Schroeder.
Jan Ritchie, freshman office
administration major, reports
the Symphonic Band will pre-
sent a concert on Sunday,
Feb.23.
The band will perform at
3p.m. in the Lamar Theatre.
Music to be performed will be
some of the tunes that will be
performed on March 6 by the
Symphonic Band for the na-
tional convention of the
American Bandmasters Asso-
ciation in New Orleans. The
program will include "The
Universal Judgement," Koda-
ly*s "Hary Janos Suite," "La
Procession Du Rocio," "Sus-
piros de Espana," and other
selections. The public is in-
vited and admission is free
according to Dr. Charles A.
Wiley, conductor and director
of music.
The student branch of the
Institute of Electrical and
Electronic Engineers is spon-
soring a field trip to Nasa for
its m e m b e r s on Thursday,
Feb. 27, reports Bobby N. Roy,
vice-president.
Members planning to go are
asked to meet in the Electri-
cal Engineering lab area lo-
cated in the Engineering III
building at 9 a.m. The sched-
uled return time is 4 p.m.
Transportation will be pro-
vided by member carpools.

a graduate of Lamar and Tex-

law clerk in the Federai Dis -
trict Judges* office, will
discuss law school and legal
opportunities.
