Female awareness among topics
Counseling Center sets workshops
By TIM KRAUSE
of the U.P. staff
— A series of free workshops are being
Sffered to students by the University
uSunseling Center. The workshops will
i&late among eight subjects and will be
directed by Judy McConnell, coun-
seling intern at Lamar.
The workshops will be on weekday
evenings, lasting from one and a half
to two hours. They will be over by 8
p.m. every evening.
The different topics of discussion are
anxiety management, assertion
training, communication skills,
decision making, female awareness,
life planning, values clarification and
w.eight control.
Each workshop will be held several
times to give everyone a chance to at-
tend.
The anxiety management workshop
will help participants learn to control
nervous anxiety. Students will learn to
relax and not be anxious when taking
tests or on the job.
The anxiety management workshops
are Tuesdays from 6 p.m. until 7:30
p.m., Sept. 27 and Oct. 4.
Methods used to show students how to
keep from losing control are relaxation
exercises and discussion of causes of
anxiety. Physiological control of the
