TIPA is made up of more
than 70 universities and colleges
across the state of Texas. Awards
were given for entries published
or broadcast between Jan. 1 and
Dec. 31, 2002. Hundreds of stu-
dents compete in these cate-
gories.
The event was co-hosted by
Southwest Texas State Univer-
sity and Del Mar College. The
2004 convention will be held in
Austin, co-hosted by the Univer-
sity of Texas at Austin, St.
Edward’s University and Mary
Hardin-Baylor.

to participate in this competi-

Associated Press, and the
award is based on the newspa-
per’s overall excellence.

“The stage is just set up like a
room,” she said. “It makes you
feel like you are right there with
them.”

limited, and the production lasts
about an hour-and-a-half, along
with an intermission.

Parking Lot 12 to change
The faculty-staff reserved area in
parking lot 12 has been designated as a
towaway zone, Lamar assistant chief of
police Obert Blaisdell said.
“This will become effective as soon
as signs are erected,” he said.

Club will hold its annual Easter Egg

Spirit Team tryouts scheduled
The Lamar Spirit Team will hold
tryouts on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the
Women's Gym, Brenda Griner, advis-
er, said.
People wanting to tryout should
bring one head shot photograph, one
letter of recommendation, and a
pen, she said. They should also wear
black jazz pants, jazz shoes, and a
plain colored leotard. Shirts should
not be baggy.

GPA.
