from 4 to 6 at the Elk's Hall and
here the ladies ot 'the city gave
proof of their hospitality and en-

strangeness was allowed anyone.
Music add dancing were enjoyed
and refreshing ices we-e served

guests and hostesses repair tp
their homes and hotels for din-

The gentlemen had been en-

we considered a safe dia-
tance we were partly rated
from onr feet, and our ears split
with the force and terrible rum-
ble. At the demonstration
of the second well we were con-
tent to remain a block away;
here the force was even greater,
the gas shooting to the too of
the derpek, and the earth trem-
bled from tbe force, or riiaybe it
was just.onr nerves shaking, bat
there can be no doubt about the
force. Wells are being drilled,
others were pumping, gasoline
is manufactured, dry gas util-
ized and the half ms yet ia not
known of the riches of this great
field, and of what is in store for
the hustling citizenship of Pe-
trolia, greatest of whom is the
Round-Up editor in his efforts
for Petrolia’s interest, yet so
smell of statnre is he the! as one
of did, be sought an elevated po-
sition—a house t o p—that he
might make himself seen end
heard. We met J. J, and C. T.
Taylor, bat Fox had gone fish-
ing; Messrs. Taylor were very
glad to see someone from home,
expressed appreciation of the
Herald and sent greetings to
Lancaster friends and relatives.
On returning to onr hotels we
were allowed one half hour in
which to tree ourselves from the
red dust accumulated in our af-
ternoon excursion and to don our
evening attire before taking cars
to Wichita Lake for a banquet
and an evening of recreation and
pleasure. Here again surprise
and admiration.
An artificial lake covering some
seventy-five acres, some six miles
from the city from which an
abundance of water is supplied
for all purposes, properly filtered
and purified, on whose crests
row boats and steam launches
afford pleasure and from the
ure and comfort.

Then came the feast of reason
and fiqw of soul, when oratory
followed oratory and wit met
wit. R. E. Hu# acted as toast-
master. Mayor A. H. Britain
spoke for the city and the regu-
lar speilers s peaking > for the
press. It was not until the tend
of light feet stepping to Music
on the floor above reached
ears that t h e press orators
could be made to desist from
the »opr?eifd
tion of the association for the en--
tertainment gtveei Dancing,
“sitting out” ttie dances, prom-
enading and exchanging greet-
ings filled the program nntiisuch
time as it suited each party or ]
group to return to the city.

If you will put your faith and
trust in Mitchells Compound, you
will not be disappointed. Not
only will it relieve, or entirely
banish those annoying symptoms
morning sickness, backache, ner-
vousness, cramps, swelling of
the limbs, etc., but will also
make labor natural, that is easy
and painless. The confinement
is also made short and quick and
the terrible pains and intense
suffering commonly supposed to
be part and parcel of labor, are
alwayd absent when DR. DYE’S
MITCHELLA COMPOUND is
used.
