TBOT TOPICS
From our Special Correspondent.
Troy, Tex. Aug. 22, 1895.
A nice little shower fell Satur-
day and some has fallen since, but
not enough to do any great good to
the cotton crop, which needs a
whole lot of water to bring it out.
Much of the cotton is late in this yi-
cinity and if good rains would come
the plant would put on a second and
larger crop than the one now ma-
turing, The two bales sold here
brought 6 and 7 cen ts.
One of our young men, returning
from Temple in a salubrious condi-
tion Monday would hardly be per-
suaded by his friends to get off
when the train slowed up. but want-
ed to clean up the whole shooting
match. He was held back till the
train got up sufficient speed to keep
him from catching it.
The people like the plain and fear
less way the Times has of putting
tardy officers back into the path of
duty.
Mr. M. Bonner, who for awhile
thought of locating in Temple or
Belton, has made up his mind to re-
main a citizen ol this town. He
will build a new residence near the
school building.
A plan to secure a public park is
being nurtured in the minds of some
of our young people. As yet it has
not been discussed generally and
only three or four boys have been
consulted, but they have agreed
that the enterprise is practicable.
A society for the planting of trees
and other good work will be organ-
ized. If Troy cannot get the big
plums, she will pluck the best fruit
in her reach and enjoy it, too.

Our store is our best advertisement. One year ago we blazed out the
path of LOW PRICES; we have led the way ever since. Ask the people
which store sells the cheapest and nine in ten will answer THE FAIR.
We are not giving goods away, though some of our customers think so
when they see the prices. Its as near to a presentation as we care to go,
however, and only on urgent call for more room. Dont delay. Present
satisfaction is better than future regrets. Such bargains as these never go
