solid mahogany interior finish, was
festive with lights and flowers, and

the State. This will be a publica-
tion that will carry a wonderful
story—a story that has never been
told. It will be a story of romance
and sentiment, a story of vast re-
sources and wide spread develop-
ment and acheivement
Only fifty years ago Galveston was
the largest city in the State, with a
population of 14,000, and Dallas and
Fort Worth with less than 500 popu-

The story of the founding, growth

LOWE SLASHES HIM-
SELF WITH RAZOR]
Accused Malone Banker Secures]
Weapon from Another Prisoner;
3 Cases Set for this Week.
Slipping a razor from another
prisoner in the county jail, Sam E.
Lowe slashed himself several times
across the breast and once on the
wrist about 5 o’clock Sunday after-
noon. The matter was reported to
the jailer, who when it Was learned
that Health Officer Smith was out
of the city summoned Dr. Edwin
Vaughn, former county health offi-
cer, who dressed the wounds and
states that none of them were seri
ous. Some of the gashes were long,
but none were deep.
Lowe, who is under indictment in
thirty-seven cases in connection with
the failure of the Malone State Bank,
faces trial in three of the cases this
week, and it is not thought that any
of his injuries are serious enough to
prevent the cases being called.—Hills-
boro Mirror.
