NEW YORK Oct. 5.-While thou-
sands of persona watched from the
shore approximately (K Snnday. ex-
cursionists were rescued from tb
burning side-wheel steamer Mistletoe
by coast guards and fishing craft Sun-
day afternoon in the waters of lower
New York bay. After all the passen-
gers were- safely removed the Mistle-
toe sank.
The vessel left Sheepshtfad bay in
the morning for an all-day cfaise.

persons were instantly killed and four

at Oakland Sunday.

stolen boat outside the three-mile

ton oil man and contractor who was
shot accidentally September 28 at hla
home after returning from a hunting
trip died at 10:30 a. in. Sunday at s
locul sanitarium from the effects ol

He was vice president of the Engl
Petroleum company and was In the oil
producing and contracting business in
HoiiNtoii. Mr. Morgan bad lived In
Houston practically all his life and at-
tained bis first experience in the oil
business with Walter Sharp with th
Texas company. At the time of his
death he waa general superintendent
of production of the Sims Oil com-
pany for Loulxiana and Arkansas
with headquarters at Hhreveport La.
lie was a member of Holland lodge
No. 1' A. F. and A. M.; Scottish Rite
and Arabia Temple.
He in survived by his wife two
(laughters Misses Nsdyae and Mary
Catherine Morgan; one son Kmmett
Morgan; his mother Mrs. Sallie Mor-
gan; one sister Mrs. Jessie Kennedy
all of Houston.
Funeral services wilt be held at

the slaying of Gohr following the wounding of Miss Engel at
8:50 p. m. Sunday in the confectionery store operated by Jessee

p. m. Hunday night. Tbe Jagged end
of a bottle wielded by some unknown
person severed tbe jugular vein ia his
neck. Before s physician summoned
from Kealy could reach the scene he
was dead.
The sheriff at Bellvllle was notified
snd was on his way Jo Frydek st a
late hour Hunday night.
According to persons in the dance
hall Ciesllewic was heard to scream
several times. The crowd ran to the
front of the building and found him
lying on the ground gasping for
breath. He was unable to talk and
died without making a statement.
He Is survived by a wife and sev-
eral children.
