C. RAYMOND JUDICE JIM HUTCHESON
Administrative Director General Counsel
TO THE GOVERNOR, MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE AND OF THE JUDICIARY, AND
TO THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
This Sixty-Sixth Annual Report on the Texas Judicial System contains information on the
basic structure and organization of the Texas Judiciary; detailed reports, summaries and
analyses of the activities of the various levels of courts comprising the judicial system; reports
on the activities of judicial agencies as required by law; and directories of judges and clerks.
It presents the court activity of the 2,573 state, county, justice of the peace, and municipal
courts in the State of Texas. It is intended to inform the general public and the legislative and
executive branches of state government of the accomplishments of the judicial branch during
the period of September 1, 1993 through August 31, 1994.
This report was prepared by the staff of the state Office of Court Administration and is
submitted under the auspices of the Texas Judicial Council, pursuant to the statutory duty of
the Council, as follows:
The council continuously shall study the organization, rules, proce-
dures and practice, work accomplished, results, and uniformity of the
discretionary powers of the state courts and methods for their improve-
ment.
(Section 71.031, Tex. Gov't Code)
The council shall gather judicial statistics and other pertinent
information from the several state judges and other court officials of
this State.
(Section 71.035, Tex. Gov't Code)
We particularly wish to recognize the interest and support of the justices, judges, and clerks
of the appellate courts, the judges, clerks, and court personnel of all levels of trial courts, and
the presiding judges and their assistants of the nine administrative judicial regions, who have
submitted the monthly reports and the requested information which is included in this report.
Without their efforts, this report would not be possible and the citizens of the state would be
deprived of necessary information on the activities of the judicial branch of government.
Special acknowledgment is extended to the members of the Texas Judicial Council for their
continuing aid and support in our efforts to inform our citizens of the work accomplished by the
judicial branch of their government.C. R m d udice
