Fomby Named
NMS Student
Of The Week
Newton Middle School’s
Student of the Week for Nov. 6-17
is Megan Fomby.
The sixth grader was nominated
by Ms. Jones. She says, “Megan
always has the best attitude. She is
very observant and is always will-
ing to be a help to those around her.
“All of her time is spent in class
being on task and behaving
superbly. She is an “A” student, an
office worker, a secretary, an office
manager and an overall neat kid all
rolled into one very neat and attrac-
tive package. With her attitude, the
sky is the limit.”
MAKING MUSIC Oct. 6 at the Powell lutel Restoration Celebration were four members of the Megan is the daughter of Larry
Symphony of Southeast Texas, Kurt Gilman, concertmaster; Ellen Rienatra, second violinist; Tom and Pam Fomby
Schroeder, principal cellist; and Carol Ayres, principal violinist.
COLTON SUTTON, the three-old-son of Stephen and Wendi
Sutton of Newton, is shown with his first buck. Colton killed this
spike buck during youth weekend.
Toledo Bend VFD Report
By Gil Nohavitza
Chief, TBVFD
The Toledo Bend VFD respond-
ed to one fire call during the past
month, which turned out to be a
controlled burn by a homeowner. It
is rewarding to have just one call,
when we think back to the prob-
lems that developed during the past
two months and I hope the weather
continues to cooperate.
It’s that time of year when we
will be heating our homes. This
means that stoves and furnaces
need to be checked out for proper
operation by a qualified person.
Don’t wait until the last minute
for this service. It could mean
delays in getting someone to serv-
ice your equipment. And most of
all, it could be dangerous if you
used the equipment before having it
checked out. Also, your home
might get below a temperature
that you’re not comfortable with.
