Mrs. Dale Gollehon Is
Honored With Baby Shower
Dippel
Awarded
Citation
Austin. — An official State
Health Department ciitation for
job competency has been award-
ed to Jay Dee Dippel, superinten-
dent of the Woodsboro municipal
water department.
The impressive document, sign-
ed by the state health commission-
er and officers of the Texas Wat-
er and Sewage Works Association,
was presented to Dippel after he
dempnstrated his skill in water
plant management and an un-
derstanding of the importance of
the work to the health of Woods-
boro residents.
Under the State Health Depart-
ment’s operator certification pro-
gram operators of city utility
plants are carefully examined on
their technical know-how and their
knowledge of their work’s influ-
ence on community health. Each
must pass a stiff written exami-
nation to qualify for certification.
Points toward certification are
earned through actual work ex-
perience and by attending annual
district and state short schools
sponsored and conducted by the
State Health Department, the en-
gineering extension service of Tex-
as A and Mi College, and the Tex-
as Water and Sewage Works As-
sociation.
State law requires that at least
one certified operator be on duty
during each shift at a city water
for waste water treatment plant.
But other plant personnnel often
seek certification on their own
time and at their own expense to
advance themselves professional-
ly and to increase their efficiency
as vital public servants.
""Utility operators who qualify
lor these certificates are credits
to their profession and their com-
munities,” State Health Depart-
ment engineers say.
