December-Planted Flowers
Program for Garden Club
Woodsboro.—The 'La Rosa Gar-
den Club met in the home of Mrs.
Harry Cummins, Sr. Tuesday, De-
cemibr 10, with Mrs. J. D. Coffey
as co-hostess.
Roll call was answered with a
“Christmas Wi9h’\
The program consisted of a dis-
cussion on flowers that could be
planted during December.
The 'hostess used the Christmas
theme in decorations and refresh-
ments. An arrangement of ever-
green, candles, and Christmas
bells in blue and gold were used
on the mantle, and an arrange-
ment of poinsettas with hurricane
lamps was on the buffet.
Members brought Christmas
novelties which they had made.
These were on display.
The serving table was laid with
a red net Christmas cloth which
had been made by Mrs. E. C.
Cowell. It was centered with a
poinsetta arrangement.
Gifts of pot plants were exchang-
ed by those present.
The hostess served refreshments
of fruit cake, decorated cookies,
candies, mints, nuts, coffee, and
tea.
Members present included Mrs.
Frank Hartmann, Sr., Mrs. Frank
Hartmann, Jr., Mrs. Eric Homer,
Mrs. A. D. Aikin, Mrs. A. C. Wal-
ston, Mrs. Cowell, Mrs. Jack Tho-
mas, Mrs. J. M. Thomas, Mrs.
Lettie Morgan, Mrs. J. A. StOnge,
Mrs. M. J. Henkhaus, and the
hostess.
Two visitors, Mrs. S, W. McKel-
vey and Mrs. Fritz Gregorczyk,
were also persent.

W. C. Wagner were Mr. and Mrs.
George Wagner and family of Gre-
gory and Mr. and Mrs. James Mc-
Dowell and family of Corpus

Friday, November 29 for a “Five
Hundred Party”.
High prize was given to Mrs.
Davis Adkins; low; went to Mrs.
K. D. Hall; Mrs. Harry Cummins,
Sr. received high cut; Mrs. J. E.
Bauer, low cut; an,d traveling
prize went to Mrs. Adkins.
The hostess served coffee and
pumpkin pie topped with whipped
cream to Mrs. Bauer, Mrs. Phil
Yeung, Mrs. Eddie Clarkson, Mrs.
Hall, Mjrs. C. T. Weir, M^rs. B.
E. McGuill, Mrs. Joe Sneed,
Mrs. Wilson Heard, Mrs. Adkins
and Miss Emma Huddleston of Re-
fugio; Mrs. Sam Adler of Vic-

Party, Shower
Held at Church
Woodsboro. — The Women of
the Lutheran Church had a Christ-
mas party Thursday, December 12,
in the home of Mrs. Harry Dona-
hoo of Refugio. Combined with the
party was a surprise Pink and
Blue shower for Mrs. Jerry Thane.
A silver Christmas tree with a
revolving light was the center of
attraction. Christmas arrange-
ment were on the coffee table and
the serving table.
During the social hour, Sunshine
Sisters were revealed with an ex-
change of gifts.
Refreshments of sandwiches,
cookies, cake, coffee, cokes, and
hot tea were served to 19 mem-
bers.
Baptist Class
Feted at Party
Woodsboro. — The Mary - Mar-
tha SundJay School class of the
First Baptist Church met Thurs-
day nite, December 12, in the
home of Mrs. Marshall Adams,
for a short business session and
Christmas party.
The devotional Was brought by
Mrs. Myrtle Murray.
After the closing prayer, led by
Mrs. J. M. Thomjas, gifts were
exchanged and openedl.
The hostess served refreshments
of salmon salad, crackers, hot
chocolate, and Prune cake.
Members present included Mrs.
Murray, Mrs. Ruby Beckman,
Mrs. Lettie Morgan, Mrs. Thom-
as, Mrs. W. A. Catchings, Mrs. A.
B. Crowell, Mrs. Minnie Alice
Smjith, and Mrs. J. E. Windsor.
Guests present were Mrs. W. A.
Smith and Mrs. Lemmh Gray.

and Mrs. W- D. Neskora was his
nephew, Ervin Krupala, of Hallets-
ville.

Mrs. Frank Barnett and son of
Telfemer. Barnett is commission-
er of that community.
Mrs. Clyde White reported this
week that her husband is “doing
real well” since his stroke in June.

Week of Prayer Observed
By first Baptist Ladies
Woodsboro. — Week of Prayer
for Foreign Missions was observ-
ed Monday through Friday, De-
cember 9 through December 13, in
First Baptist Church.
The attraction center was com-
posed of a mjnitaure church, light-
ed, with a large mpp of the world

Woodsboro.—The (Refugio Coun-
ty Home Demonstration Council
annual Christmas covered - ,dish
lunch and party was held in
Woodsboro at the Civic Club build-
ing, December 5.
Lunch was served cafeteria style
to 34 members representing Tivo-
li, Refugio, 'Woodsboro, and Bon-
nie View! clubs, and one visitor,
Mrs. W. M- Dodson.
The Christmas theme w|as car-
ried out in decorations, including
a tree donated by Mi's. R. J. Henk-
haus, Christmas decoration chair-
man.
During the session, Council of-
cers for the new year were in-
stalled. Mrs. Eityntet Hayes is
chairman; Mrs. B. J. Niemann,
vice - chairman; Mrs. Ed Strat-
mann, secretary; Mbs. Steven
Stiibblefield, treasurer; and Mrs.
Ray Jones, THDA delegate.
Entertainment was furnished by
Mrs. Stubblefield of Refugio and
Mrs. Gus Pagle of Tivoli.
Gifts were exchanged by the
members. Each club brought gifts
for the boys’ home in Austin. Mrs.
Stubblefield, treasurer, was to for-
ward the gifts to the home.
Luncheon Club Meets
With Mrs. Wehring
Refugio. — The (Refugio Lunch-
eon Club met in the home of Mrs.
Ernest Wehring Thursday, Decem-
ber 5.
Mrs. Wehring used the Christ-
mas theme in decorations through-
out the'house.
Attending were Mrs. Frank
Rooke, Jr. and Mrs. darence
Boone of Woodsboro and Mrs. J.
A. Van Hoof, Mrs. W. H. Strauch,
Mrs. Bob Klare, Mrs. A. A. (Rod-
gers, Mrs. D. O. Harvey, and a
guest, Mrs. Nell Long, all of Re-
fugio.

Hostess to Party
Woodsboro. — A “42 Party” was
held in the home of (Mrs. Lettie
Morgan, Friday nite, November
29, honoring Mrs. Minnie Alice
Smith on her birthday.
Helping celebrate were Mr. and
Mrs. Fritz Gregorczyk, Mrs. Paul
Davis, Mrs. MayDell Carleton,
Dock Montgomjery and H. L. Law-
rence of Sinton, the honoree and
the hostess.
Pie and coffee were served by
the hostess.

lights were placed on the foreign
fields where Southern Baptist have
mission work. As a certain amount
of offering was completed, a light
was turned on to represent the lo-
cal church’s part in “lighting up
the world with the message of
Christ, dispelling the spiritual
darkness in Which millions are
groping”.
The them© of the Week of Pray-
er was “Crowp Himj Lord of All”.
Mrs. W. P. Crumjpton was in
charge of the program Monday. It
was entitled “Peoples of the Or-
ient”. Tuesday, “Peoples of Afri-
ca, Europe, Near Eiast” was pre-
sented by Mrs. M» J. Henkhaus.
The Wednesday program was
presented to all the organizations
during the evening service. Mrs.
John R. Johnston was in charge of
that program, “Every Kindred,
Every Tribe”.
Thursday, Mrs. Amon Billings
was in charge of “Peoples of La-
tin America.” The closing day, Fri-
day, Mrs. M. P. Wright was in
charge of the lesson, “Crown Hin<
Lord of Life”.

Entertains
Woodsboro. — Diane Lopez had
a Christmas party in her home
Thursday nite, December 12.
Decorations were of the Chirst-
mas motif, with a Christmas ar-
rangement on the serving table.
Dips, fritos, Christmas candy,
cookies, and punch were served
after several indoor games were
played.
Friends present included Jane
Koontz, Joye (Hoffman, Jo Ann
Slaughter, Miriam Hartmann, Ka-
therine Hammond, Andy (Rod-
riguez, John Coffey, 'Raymond Cis-
neros, Kenneth Derrough, Bob
Shipp, Larry Telge, and Ray Eli-
zondo.
Junior High Band
Students Feted
Woodsboro. — Band students of
the sixth, seventh, and! eighth
grades were entertained Saturday
nite, December 14, with a Christ-
mas party at the Civic Club build-
ing.
The Christmas thence was car-
ried out in decorations. Centering
the serving table was an arrange-
ment of miniature Santas holding
musical instruments.
Dips, potato chips, cookies, and
soft drinks were served to 59 band
members.
The young people played games
and danced.
Chaperones included Mrs. Wake*
field, Mrs. Grimes, Mrs. R. E.
Griffith, Jr., Mrs. Alleene Wil-
banks, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vickery,
Mrs. Myrtis Stocking, Mrs. L. B.
Borden, Mrs. Frank Hartmann,
Jr., Mrs. Jack Thomas, Mir. and
Mrs. Bob Hudler. Mrs. J. L. Hoff-
man, and Mrs. Hugh Thomas.
