12 NEW MEMBERS IN A MONTH

H. D. Club met Tuesday, but the at-
tendance was rather light, due to the
heavy demands for everybody to help
in the blackberry fields, and in the
cotton chopping campaign. Three
new mstnbers were added to the mem-

The quilt for the prettiest girls
brought $37.80; the two pillows
brought $12.00; the proceeds from the
supper, ice cream and drinks amount-
ed to $43.62; the. angel food cake
brought $15.05; and donations amount*
“d to $12.00, making a total of $121,-
52. Total expenses were $17.18,
leaving a net cash balance of $104.34.
The quilt was awarded to the pret-
tiest girt, Betty McFarland. To Judge
Pace, as the ugliest candidate, went
the angel food cake. To candidate
Roy Verner went one of the pillow*
and to Walter Bearid, Jr., went the
other pillow.
In behalf of the entire club mem-
bership an expression of thanks is
given to every one who had part in
making the supper the success it was.
E*pecial thanks are given to the can-
didates for their generous patronage;
also, additionally, to Mr. Dock T. Al-
len for the aid he gave in managing
the sale of the cake, pillows and quilt.

have had to suspend one meeting,
