in Rockport
In 2008, the future of Rockport's Fulton-Bruhl
House, designated as a Texas Historical Landmark,
was in jeopardy, seemingly destined to be demol-
ished or moved from its prime downtown location.
Fortunately, Austinites Jeff and Anne Hunt came
to the rescue, purchasing and restoring the histor-
ic property. That private project inspired further
restorations in Rockport's historic downtown.

The Ups and Downs of
Private Preservation Projects
In this roundtable discussion, Skipper Steely, Suzy
and Chip Harper, and Colton and Katie Wicks
share their experiences-and lessons learned
along the way-as they restored historic proper-
ties in Paris, Texas.
Preservation Makes for Good Business
When Greg Morse, founder and CEO of Worthing-
ton Bank, envisioned starting up a community-
focused, local financial institution, adaptive-reuse
of historic properties was not part of the initial
business plan. However, after transforming a ne-
glected Arlington historic landmark and restor-
ing space in Fort Worth's Burk Burnett Building,
these preservation projects have come to embody
Worthington's idea of "doing good business."
By Pamela MurthaA Passion for the Past Drives Restoration
of a Hill Country Home
A Dallas couple has spent the past year restoring
a circa 1900 German rock house located in Mason
