Important to Subscribers.
Tribune subscribers served by car-
rier will confer a great favor on the
publisher by promptly reporting by
phone any failure of a carrier to de-
liver the paper, giving the name of the
delinquent boy. This will enable us
to oorreot the annoyance, and take
measures to prevent a recurrence of It,
ORANGE, TEXAS, SEPT. 2, 1904.
You’ll meet him if you haven’t yet;
He’s sure to find you soon or late—
The man who recalls a hotter spell
Some time ’Way back in ’48.
Atots have five noses, yet, unlike
some folks we know, they never' stick
even one of them Into anybody’s busi-
ness but their own.
If a man’s efforts don’t metet your
approval, knock him; if he persists In
spite of that, block him; and at every
opportunity sock him; and rejoice if
at last you hock him—is too often the
principle on which some folks delight
to work.

New York had the dryest A’ugust

Texas week at the World’s Fair will
begin September 11. Texas Is at-
tracting more attention at the fair
Chan any other state by her great and
unique display of the wide scope of
her resources. Manager Wortham of
the Texas fair commission lily urging
the people of the state to spare no
effort to make Texas week the mem-
orable feature of the great exposition.
Bully
and sprang a sensation
came to the front yesterday
on the New
York cotton market with a circular
loaded for bear in the. shape of a
statement that the crop of 1904-05
would be only 10.000,000 bales. Who
told him so nobody knows, and if it
were not for the recollection that the
Sully forecasts and declarations have
been known to come before now pret-
ty near hitting the mark on 'change,
the market would pass this one by
with a smile. As It is. some folks are
thinking.
A small army of men will now be
able to see little old New York on a
week day for the first time in more
or less numerous weary years, al-
though most of them have been living
within sight of the longed-for pleas-
ures of the city during their Involun-
tary sojourn on alien ground. These
unfortunates are ones whose wives
have secured divorces from them
with accompanying court orders for
alimony. If the divorced spouses re-
> malned In New York and neglected to
pay the alimony they would have to
go to jail. If they paid the alimony it
would leave them a littto shy of oaab.
