Fiscal Operations ManagerThe following is an official report showing the amount of monetary benefits paid
during Fiscal Year 2004 in Texas broken down by county.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides the information to us with the
county veteran population figures compiled using the VetPop 2004 Model
published by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Please note: All monetary
expenditure figures are in thousands of dollars ($000) and rounded to the nearest
thousand. Also, the category referred to in previous year's issues of this report as
"Medical and Administrative Expenditures" has been broken down into two
categories this year: "General Operating Expense" (GOE) and "Medical
Expenditures" (ME). Also, beginning this year, the GOE and ME relating to
Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) are included.
We feel that this information is important, as it is an excellent barometer of the
effectiveness of the valuable service performed for Texas veterans, their
dependents and survivors by the County Veterans Service Officers and Veterans
Counselors in the State. Most of the monetary benefits paid are placed in
immediate circulation, thereby providing a significant economic stimulus to the
economy of the State.
We hope that you will share this information with the County Commissioners
Court and the residents of the county in which the service is provided. We would also like to congratulate all of you for a job well
veterans, their dependents and survivors.done for the State's
Sincerely yours,
AMES E. NER
