declared a disaster area by
the U.S Department of
Agriculture because of
drought. Reagan County
farmers and ranchers will
now be eligible for emer-
gency loans and other as-
sistance.
Information is available
from the county supervisor
of the Farmers Home Ad-
ministration. Deadlines
for loan applications are
April 11 for physical losses
and Nov. 11 for production
losses
Band Benefit Bingo
Set For April 5
The Hand Benefit Bingo
has been set for Saturday,
April 5. The location will
be announced at a later
date.
The date was first tenta-
tively announced for March
8 in the Community Build-
ing. however, this was only
tentative and Is not correct.
The date is April 5.
The event will be spon-
sored by the Band Boosters
Club, and the public is
cordially invited. Proceeds
go to help finance the band's
trip to Galveston in April.

sary with a Weekend Revival

As a Community Im-
provement Project, which
is a General Federation of
Women's Club project, the
Twentieth Century Club
members, will meet at
7:30 p.m. Tuesday to re-
paint the above trash cans.
The club purchased and
placed these cans in con-
venient locations in the
downtown area approximate-
ly 20 years ago One trash
can is located in the down-
town park and the other one
near the Rost Office en-
trance.
in keeping with the Bi-
centennial theme, the club
plans to paint them red,
white and blue. Since the
members feel this will help
beautify the downtown area,
plans are to paint some
other trash cans located
around town.
Highway Dept.
Improving RM 2600
SAN ANGELO—The Texas
Highway Department began
work on February 18 to im-
prove R. M. 2600 In Reagan
County. The improvements
include adding drainage
structures, adding base ma-
terial and widening the pave-
ment from 18 to 20 feet on
a 10-mile section of a form-
er county road.
R.M. 2600 begins at R.M.
33 four miles south of R.M.
1357 and extends to the east
D. R. Watson, District
Engineer for the San Angelo
area, said the work estima-
ted at $67 , 500 is being done
by Texas Highway Depart-
ment Special Construction
crews. He further stated
the work should be comple-
ted in approximately two
months.
With an increase in oil
exploration within the coun-
ty. this road is carrying ad-
ditional traffic. The widen-
ing of the pavement will
make a safer road. After
completion of this work,
maintenance will be assumed
by the Texas Highway De-
partment.

Induction Ceremony
The National Honor
Society of Reagan County
High School held an In-
duction ceremony for 11
new members Monday at
12 45 p.m. in the high
school auditorium. Tnere
were 20 members of the
Society present.
Brenda Wilson, vice-
president, presided in the
absence of Tim Turner,
president
New members inducted
included Peter Acosta, sen-
ior; Leticia Gonzales and
Dana Kohutek, juniors;
and Linda Presnell, Debbie
Anderson. Hose Escobeda.
Dennis Kruse. Cynthia
Acosta, Mary Riter, Opie
Settle, and Terry Whitley,
sophomores.

Chapter are Tim Turner,
president. Brenda Wilson,
vice-president; Veronica
Dominguez, secretary ;and
Liu Ferguson, treasurer
