On April 15 and 16 the South
Plains relays will attract an esti-
mated 400 entries.
According to Curtis Barrett of
the Tech Athletic department,
gold, silver, and bronze track
shoes will be awarded to first,
second and third place winners.
Each member of a first, second
or third place relay team will re-
ceive a track shoe.
Starting at 2 o’clock each day,
the relays can expect fine West
Texas weather. (This is not a
prophecy.)
“Red” Mayes, Pampa, holds the
relay records in both the 100 and
220 yard dashes with times of
9.7 and 21.3.
